I spend a lot of time on planes, but the flight I took from Dayton to D.C. last Saturday will be hard to top. The seats were filled with American heroes, seventy World War II veterans traveling to their memorial

The view from 8C

Janet: thanks very much for your story on Honor Flight. My father flew from Asheville NC on June 2, 2007 and had a wonderful time. It was very emotional for him. He was happy to help out as one of the younger veterans (age 82) on the flight. His chapter is one of the first ones formed and he remains an active participant. I hope your story raises the awareness of this organization to help with the race against time.

The view from 8C

My husband Richard served both theaters during WW11.
Unfortuatley he passed away at age 58. It was extremely well planned and the veterans were treated with so much tenderness, kindness and respect. My father says it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that brings him to tears when he starts to talk about it. The reception at the airport where the veterans were welcomed on their arrival really warmed his heart to see so many people honoring all of the vets that day. This organization needs money to be able to keep this going. Let's all show our gratitude with $$$.

The view from 8C

It is very important to get these Veterans to see their memorial. It has been 60 some years and they are just now getting THANKED!
