Genius! Bless you Drs. Hudson! My daughter endured daily 3 hours school bus rides for six years. Although your program comes 3 years too late for her, I am sure there are many parents who will be willing to work with you and very much appreciate your solution to this 'rural' problem.

I think that Mr. Hudson has hit on a wonderful,fantastic idea that NEED'S to be replicated all over this country,with a stipulation from all student's and parent's that would be blessed by this program that if this opportunity is afforded them all parties involved will agree that the participating families will guarantee that EVERY effort will be made by all parties,CHILDREN AND PARENT'S AND TEACHER'S alike that an appropiate grade average for that student will be maintained in order to be a part of this wonderful chance to integrate into the computerized world in which we live and to also learn instead of just wasting valuable time to and from school everyday.Thank you Mr. Hudson for a truly fantastic idea,COME ON U.S.A. This seems like a perfect solution for some of our rural school districts in Nevada where bus rides are from 1-2 hrs. We have hired tutors for the bus ride home but too many times tutors aren't available. Has Mr. Hudson thought of contacting Program Directors of 21st Century Community Learning Centers Afterschool Programs throughout the country to ask if this project would fit into their programs? I'd love to talk to him about it!

Thank you, NBC, for telling this incredibly inspirational story. I hope you will return to this story to show how one courageous act of a teacher/coach rippled into quantum waves of change in thousands of lives.

Robert Theus intervened when he heard Billy Hudson was going to drop out of school to escape his abusive father. Alice Sloan provided the jobs that helped the rest of Billy's family to escape.

Billy's sister Ann Kincl taught gifted students.

Dr. Hudson became a professor and world-class scientist who made a difference for families suffering from hereditary diabetic kidney disease. And, he's gone back to Grapevine to help other kids like him. Wow!

TWO THINGS CAME TOGETHER HERE AT THE SAME TIME, THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN MUCH IN THIS COUNTRY. THERE WAS AN UNDER-USED RESOURCE. THERE WAS A PERSON WHO FOUND THE SOLUTION AND ACTED. THAT IS ONE. A GROUP OF RURAL KIDS WHO SAW THE SOLUTION AND HAD THE COURAGE TO ACT, EVEN THOUGH MOST OF AMERICA GAVE UP ON ARK. LONG AGO. KNOWLEDGE DOESN'T STOP AT THE STATE LINE OR THE CITY LIMITS. THEY WILL MAKE FINE EMPLOYEES FOR ANY BUSINESS THAT HAS THE COURAGE TO LOCATE NEAR BY.
