Tonight we say goodbye to a familiar voice, an era for NBC and a small piece of broadcasting history.

Howard Reig has the most suitable voice that i could ever imagine for an opening for a newscast. it was a strong, familiar voice that always got me excited for the news, but the new voice is completly unsuitable for NBC. it sounds feminine, and its not powerful like the old NBC opening was. Now due to the change, i am going to have to mute the beginning of the newscast until You; Brian starts speaking. i really hope you will consider changing back to Howard Reig's eloquent opening. thank you.

Fond farewell

This change was not needed -- Howard Reig was the last example of old guard NBC News. Now, I feel as if I am watching a completely different station when I turn on Nightly News. The set, the new music, and now even the legendary announcer! Change may sometimes be good -- but trading Reig for Michael Douglas is a sad move, because it kind of signals the end of Nightly News's respect for the past -- Heck, even the brief opening graphic with the old anchors giving their name was great - and that is gone too!

Fond farewell

I would never denegrate the immensely talented Michael Douglas. but for my money no can ever come close to the perfection of Howard Reig.
