The US was once a great Military force and got full support from the US government. Now our Military Leaders don't look out for the troops and they look out for the White House. Once our government and the First Lady worked hard to help our soldiers and families during wars, now the groups of Americans like "Our Military Kids" have to step up. Trillions of American dollars wasted and gone to Iraq for pay offs as our soldiers suffer. This acknowledgement of those who are making a difference is great. Many groups and Americans have stepped up as the Law Makers have fallen.
This week Hillary Clinton asked her supporters to collect food for the Military families who were left out of this Thanksgiving. Just giving brings more joy that anything. Yes as our President/VP and other Law Makers celebrate with their families I was proud to join in Hillary's request. I know Americans don't look at her as a leader but most leaders don't look for photo ops or headlines they just do what's needed for those in need. Many groups should be honored for their support. If it wasn't for the American people the Katrina victims would have had nothing. So one day I hope a President who represents all the American people will honor those who just got up and helped our troops and didn't wait for the Military or the Law Makers to do it. This is the country after all that is for the people and by the people and not a Dictatorship.

This was a very touching segment and very nicely reported by Janet Shamlian. As a former teacher,now retired, I know first hand how important it is for children to have some type of "normalcy" in very stressful family times. Is there a way that the average citizen could contribute to the "Our Military Kids" fund? And keep up the wonderful reporting that you do.

As the child of a soldier, I am happy to see an organization that recognizes military children. The military does a wonderful job of paying tribute to soldiers and their families, and it is nice to see them working with organizations like OMK to help the children of our service members.

As the mother in the segment, I appreciate all your kind words about the story and hope that you do donate to Our Military Kids. You can donate via the internet at www.ourmilitarykids.org. I will say that not all public officials look to support us through the camera. When I attended the funeral at Arlington Cemetary for a close friend, Sen. John Warner stood there among us all, head held down, with a brown trench coat and hat. No cameras, and by himself. He was one of us, mourning along side. That goes along way with me. I also have to send a huge thank you to Janet and Christiana (the producer), and the cameramen for this shoot. They were incredible to work with. We had a lot of fun and made memories for my kids that will last a lifetime. THANK YOU!

thanx 4 evrything yall have said mi family and i apreciate it we had fun doin the shoot but were jst happy that yall have taken the time to look at it and mi dad came home safely 4 those who were wondering hes been bak and will NOT retire soon but our military kids is a great organization they even promote a national gaurd camp where kids can hang out wif othr kids who r or have gone thru the same thing i apretiate ur help im only 12 but as u can c the war has efected all of us lets jst hope if the war continues it continues over there instead of coming to the U.S. yall have helped and in the future wen mi dad gets deployed again ill remember how much all of u supported mi family!!!!!!!!!!!!
