What we usually hear is that we look much younger than our years, or what am I doing that makes my skin so beautiful.
Nancy’s right that Paul did bring the idea of CR into our house, and that’s because his doctor suggested it to him. He was the smartest doctor in the gourp and the one that patients clammored for. He had the most energy, coming in early and staying late. Since retiring from medical practice, his new career has been Chief Administrative Officer of the group, in which he’s fully engaged. And he’s a lifelong calorie restrictor. He’s an inspiration.
We accepted his challenge and are loving it. In fact, we’ve built a lifestyle to complement it—including moderate exercise, meditation, work we love, music to accompany our activities, daily walks at twilight, visiting family and friends. This is The CR Way. The book lays it all out, not intended as a blueprint for anyone else, just a description of what we do and a “menu” of things you can choose to adopt—or not.
As it turns out, like most other things that a person does on a regular basis, weighing and measuring food have become second nature, not taking much time. We probably don’t watch the clock more than others do who plan their meal times. And like Nancy, we don’t eat fried or processed foods—a really good idea for people who want to benefit from what they eat.
On the subject of age, Paul’s and my years flank Nancy’s. He’s 59 and I’m 61. I robbed the cradle, don’t ya’ know? And then we all three also apparently share extraordinarily good health. Paul’s and my hearts have been assessed by researchers to function like those of people 15 years younger than we are and our arteries to be like those of teenagers. These results are the tip of the iceberg of our excellent lab test results. I’m happy to spend a little bit of energy on a lifestyle that gives me such good health and the likelihood of enjoying it a long time.
We hope you’ll visit us at www.LivingTheCRWay.com.

Less food, longer life?

I have no idea whether you received my name, city and state: Meredith Averill, NYC area
or my website: LivingTheCRWay.com

They remained on the screen after I submitted my comment and the message and e-mail address had disappeared.

Less food, longer life?

I believe in scientific research but just because scientist are conducting research does not mean it is worthwhile. You appeared to make this story important, but I don't buy it. Once healthy primates spend their entire lives in cages "to yield some interesting data". Geez, I'm so glad we have that data. Those big research dollars could have been spent elsewhere. Why don't the scientist watch what primates eat in the wild? They are not diseased, fat, unhappy, or have the need to experiment on humans. This is sad and wasteful.

Less food, longer life?

Paul says that he looks forward to fasting as muc or more than eating....I would too if I had to eat that gruel.

Less food, longer life?

Calorie restriction sound a bit much.
I try to eat no additional sugar than is in normal products. I eat a balanced diet where half my plate consists of vegetables and fruits. I drink soy milk as regular milk makes my stomach hurt. I don't snack.
But...we are spluring tonight and having pizza...am I feeling guilty? No way.... :)

PS I am female and 61 years old...wear size 12 clothes.

Less food, longer life?

I am a 58 year old woman and I wear an 8. I move more than any of the other 13 sales associates I work with, and they all are 23 through 47. I am one of the top producers and I do not eat red meat or sweets or bread or potatos. I eat one meal a day and feel fantastic.

Less food, longer life?

Roy Walford ate the high nutrition, low calorie diet for about 30 years. He said if he didn't live over a hundred plus years, he had proved nothing. He ate only foods that had been proved in animal studies to extend life.He exercised appropriately. He was a genius. People who live on doughnuts, cake, and spareribs, outlive him. All life is programmed . If this diet makes you feel really good it's worth it.
