There's been so much in the news lately I've felt like I've been lost the couple of days because of an annual family picnic and all. I'll be catching up with you this evening, and look forward to watching your special on msnbc. Thanks for the reminder!

The story you told of you poking your head out the window during the shooting of a movie was hilarious! I think, if they really want a good scene they should keep you in that. That is too funny, what are the chances for that to happen a second time unplanned?

There are some tough things we're hearing in the news this weekend, but nonetheless...I'll be sitting in with you this evening.

Hi Lester,

I gave you a plug last night when I commented, but it's nice for it to come straight from the horse's mouth. You know I'm kidding. If you could read my notes, you could see that I was about to promote you again.

You know we're dying to know who the actress is. Is it Angelena Jolie? She's been filming there. Is it Jennifer Anniston? She's doing something there in between dating several guys. Sorry but I don't care for her. But pleeease let us know next weekend.
We live through you and Brian. And I'm sure they won't do a second take because of you looking out the window.

I can't wait to know what Cheney was up to, not that we'll ever know. I hope the Attn. General goes through with an investigation.

And I would like to know more about the couple who was murdered in Fla. I can't imagine the terror the children experienced at home. Hopefully they'll find the killers soon.

I just wanted to thank Miquel for his report about Zac Sunderland. He's a brave young man, but I am glad to hear that most of his voyage is complete. I see how worried his parents have been. They must be so proud of him.

I saw your simualtion. I was scared for you, so I hope I don't have any nightmares watching your special later on. If I do, I may not comment on any of your blogs for a wk. Whew! (Lester wipes his brow)

When are you going to wear your purple or lavender ties again? Just wondering. Have a great week and get some rest.

Good Evening Mr.Holt, Another fine broadcast this evening! Looks like you were almost in a movie scene while looking out your window today! I wonder what movie they were filming? Anyway, that's okay of you were curious because anyone would have probably looked outside the window to see what was going on. Sounds like a fun thing to see! Now on to the broadcast. First of all th report by Mr.Pete Williams about the confirmation hearing to be held tomorrow for Judge Sonia Sotomayor. It seems she has been in meetings with members of the Senate and will be ready for all questions during the hearing. She certainly has much experience and will make a good Supreme Court Judge. Of course there will be questions about some of her decisions, but it does seem she will be confirmed. I hope everything goes well tomorrow.

On another note the report about US Marine being killed in Afghanistan was extremely sad to hear. Fighting the taliban in this region is so very tough and so many brave soldiers have been lost in the conflict. It seems the officials are saying they need even more troops to fight the taliban otherwise the mission will fail. The assessment given to Secretary of Defense Gates will be vital in how many troops continue fighting in the region.
It appears the shuttle Endeavour launch is scrubbed again due to weather conditions. Thunderstorms are happening here in Georgia too so one can understand the necessary. Mighty close lightening srikes just hit nearby! Yikes!

Looking forward to your special on "Why Planes Crash" on MSNBC tonight. Seeing you in the flight simulator at the contols gave you a sense of how hard it is to ditch a plane in the water. Certainly looked tough to do.
The piece by Mr.Almaguer about the now 17yr old sailing around the world alone was quite impressive. The young man is quite brave to attempt such a feat and since he is on his final leg I hope he achieves great success!

I always enjoy the Nightly News and am a loyal viewer. However, lately I have become concerned that some important issues crucial to all of us are not being covered by the news. There is major legislation being considered by congress on health care and energy, but we hear little about these topics (especially energy) because valuable minutes are spent covering grave robbers, the death of the parents of 16 kids, airplane crashes, Michael Jackson, etc. While these are important news items, they are insignificant compared to the issues of health care and energy that face us this year. Therefore, I made the following proposal:

1) Suspend for now all "making a difference" segments

2) Reduce drastically all coverage of "sensational" topics, such as those listed above.

3) Use this air time to cover the health care and energy issues regularly and in depth.

Just a small thing, as were the ladybugs featured at the end of your news broadcast, but a huge opportunity was missed I believe. Multiple times the ladybug was connected to good luck. I kept listening for someone to reinforce the importance of them as a beneficial insect in our gardens. That important reminder was not included...a missed opportunity.

I missed the Nightly News last night, but I did see the Today Show and how you and Jenna handled those ladybugs. The story on the tree covered in them was incredible but I'm so glad its not in my backyard. That many bugs, even ladybugs, give me the willies! Always good to see you on the news, Lester.

Hi Lester,

Hope you're having a great week. I watched your special, "Why Planes Crash", and it was terrific! It was scary though, when you were in the simulator cockpit. I had the feeling that I was on the flight with you and that we were going to crash, but you pulled it off. Whew! That was close! But I didn't have any nightmares.

I was checking out twitter and searching NBC, Brian and you...just to see what people think and twitter.
I read that you were the third keynote speaker at Bbworld conference in Washington today. I'm not even sure what that is, but you were getting rave reviews! Evidently you were talking about the news media and how there's competition from new technologies. It sounded great from what the attendees were twittering. I wish I could have been there, but I didn't have to because of Twitter! Isn't that amazing?

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know. I'll be tuning in this weekend and hope to catch you on the Today Show. Get some rest til then.

P.K. I don't think they meant that we couldn't comment on Lester's blog. They meant that we should tone it down. And I agree, they shouldn't have called you out like that.
Honest to God, I miss you commenting and I learned a lot from you. You've read lots of articles and books I haven't read. You were an asset. I don't know how things got out of hand. But we know that we're passionate about politics and I can see how we have very similar views on numerous topics.

Please consider this, and I hope the moderators allow this comment to go through.

Journal and hope the moderators are not offended
and print it.

Lester,
This morning I tuned in to "The Today Show" with you
and Amy and am fascinated by the story of the young
woman with all the children and the grief she gets.
When we moved into the neighborhood I was excluded
because I had just one daughter and it escaluted
into a neighborhood feud. My point is there are
some people you cannot please and I do not try.
