Yesterday President Obama gave a well received speech to Parliament in Ghana's capital city of Accra. The message, intended for all of Africa, was a simple one: responsibility. People worry about Casino's coming to their area and the news is full of the possible increase of criminal activity that will result. In truth, it opened a job market that wasn't previously available. I worked in a management capacity and had many Black, Mixed and Oriental co-workers, many who where entering the work force for the first time. I found that given a chance to learn a job they were eager, hard-working, reliable people.
We see far too much in the news regarding the people in New Orlean's who became victims of Katrina. The entire Mississippi Gulf Coast was also wiped out. Has anyone in the news been down there to see the fantastic job everyone, Black, White, Latino, Oriental, etc., are doing in rebuilding that area.
Blacks are no different than any other race when it comes to their ability to learn a trade or their desire to work. I believe it is the lack of opportunities, of entry level employment for those that are unable to continue their educations, and part-time openings those those that need to work while going to school or even raising children. I found the Casino's, along with the numerous Hotels, Motels and Construction Companies to be excellent avenues of employment for all races and had employees with MBA's working in the Casino's along side entry level employees.
We have a problem with people in this country with what I like to refer to as "Stinkin Thinkin". They have mind sets of some of our Ancestor's and think some people are uncaple of learning. Just because some of our Ancestor's walked onto a boat to come to this country "of their own free will", doesn't mean that those that were forced onto boats should have any less of a chance to work and learn in this great country of ours.
My motto is, "Love your neighbor as yourself" and if you don't like your neighbor because of the color of their skin, that is your problem or maybe ignorance, as ignorance breeds fear. Move, and if your encounter the same problem where ever you go, maybe you need to go back to the country of your Ancestor's origin.

Obama's speech

Who knows but that the force that ultimately
defeats and destroys militant Islam may not
turn out to be a democratic Muslim born in the
United States?
I am quoting from AN END TO EVIL...How
to Win the War on Terror by David Frum

Sincerely
Phyllis Kunz
