hello. my daughter[Pattie] was born in 1970 the dr.s said her nerves didnot develope from the brain to the eye. and that their were like millions of nerves inside nerves to the eye. she has been blind since birth. My son is 2 years old and have atrophie on the optical nerve (he is blind). He also have other neurological problem named "esquizencefalia de labio aberto" on the left side of the brain. We have collected the cells when he was born.

Is there any research that coud help him see?

I can see that it will not be much help unless someone has a retina intact. But I am encouraged that there is a place in California which can deal with unusual problems of eye damage. I hope that they can restore some sight in the one eye with a retina, for the 4 year old in Bakersfield, who has this horific injury at the hands of his father.

This is powerful message with hope for many people. Our 17 year old granddaughter is blind but has always known this day would come. She lost her sight completely about three years ago. I became blind about 4 years ago when I was diagnosed with Giant Cell Arteritis where my optic nerve was affected. One eye is blind 100% and the other about 90% and I can only see periphial vision. Is there anything that you know of that could help me. Please advise. Thank you.

I'm going to forward this article on to some of my blind friends at the South Carolina Commi8ssion for the Blind; they'd love to know there's this kind of research being done and signs of HOPE for the future. Thanks much for this and I'll call t6hat 800# to get myself on the waiting list. I've got macular degeneration in one eye at present and the other's not too swift either. I'd gladly offer myself as a guinea pig at a trial or whatever.

I am slowly going blind to this degenerative condition known as retinitis pigmentosa, as though this wonderful reseach will probably not be completed in time to help me, I hope it will progress quicky so it will be able to help my young teenage daughter who also has this awful life altering condition. Thank you so much Mr. Bazell for bringing RP to the attnetion of the general public, as most people know nothing about it. Education and Media Attention are the key to the money necessary for research such as this that are is so greatly needed for projects such this one to continue!!

My husband lost his eyesight in one eye after heart surgery-the drop in blood pressure caused Optic Neuropothy-- He had already lost most of his vision in the other eye. He wants so much to participate in any study available for Optic Neuropothy- Is this part of your study?
