Second, habit forming / potential for abuse. With a scale from say, 1-5, professional and consumers alike can recommend or consume with a much greater assurance of outcome.

I feel that since California,freezed the senior's aol cost of living that they should also freeze the rent people pay in the state too, until they get things back on track,here in California.They also cut SSI recieptants too, so like rise it should freeze their rent, an don't forget all the unemployed regardless,THERE NOT GETTING A INCREASE IN THEIR PAY,so the landlords across the state should be cut from further increases too! How about one for the little guy who's struggling and worked for their living. PS...Really can't wait to vote,I'm voting for a nobody important person to take office from now on.

I was disappointed to hear the public offical's comments on the reporting of the death of Michael Jackson tonight. The last I heard, Michael Jackson was not convicted of any crime.

It's a terrible, hurtful, pitiful shame that he and his family must bear the burden of this manner of public opinion even in his death. I can understand if the man had been convicted of being a "pedophile" or a "child molestor", but he was not. That is a fact. Statements made by people like him are dangerous and treacherous. He ought to keep his opinion himself. He is a civil servant who should know the law and is punishing Michael Jackson for something he did not do in the eyes of the law.

If Michael Jackson were convicted of a crime I would not be writing this. However, he was not, he is gone and may he rest in peace.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my own opinion which is based on facts!

May Allah gather you Michael in His Mighty arms!

I was very interested in the story about banks charging a $35.00 overdraft fee for people who go over the amount of money in their accounts. I understand that sometimes you have to have money that is not there and you chose to pay an overdraft fee, but now Bank of America charges its customers an extra $35.00 if their account is overdrawn for more than five days. To me this is crazy!!! I am asking that your staff investigate this banking process even further. To me, it is not fair to charge someone an extra $35.00 if their account is already overdrawn. Furthermore, where is the extra money going or who is getting these monies? In the past, if you did not have enough money in your account, your purchase was declined or denied and you could not buy your items. Now, if you go over, you pay a penalty, which no one can tell me where that money goes; and an extra $35.00 if more than five (5) days overdrawn. This really hurts people who are trying to make it from paycheck to paycheck. Also, why are overdrafts fees so high in the first place. $35.00 is a lot to pay everytime you overdraw a check. Banks are not hurting for money as long as their are customers who are willing to trust them. Plus our country has bailed out the banks for their bad investments by giving them millions of dollars to which executives use for bonuses to give to their upperlevel employees. When banks invest our money in the stock market, do we see any of those profits? If the banks wants to take our monies, they should be willing to give some when they make a profit in the markets. Give some of that money to the common person, not just to the executives. Please investigate these banking practices further and find out why these practices are allowed to continue. Thank you very much.

I went in and specified that I DID NOT WANT a Debit Card from BoA when they sent me one after they bought the prevous bank. I then had a card which had no transaction fees if I used the right ATM, and made me go out of the way to get CASH from my account, after seeing my balance, available 24/7. A little more hassle, but a whole lot safer from fees. (At that time, BoA charged a monthly fee if I even used the card as a Debit card and not just an ATM card.)

A couple months later my wife mistakenly gave a grocery store the ATM card instead of a credit card, and they accepted it and swiped it through their machine. Payment accepted. No one the wiser. Until I got the bank statement the next month with a Debit Card Usage Fee on it, with the Withdrawal from the grocery store. My "Personal Banker" saw some steam out of my ears that day. They refunded my money fee, and promised they'd send "real" ATM cards that said "ATM" on them the next time, which they did.

In the report on debit card fees from banks on 15 September, you forgot to include BBVACompass bank as one of the worst banks for those fees. It has been my recent unpleasant experience with BBVACompass which cost me over $400.00 of money that I had saved to pay off a bill. They charged me a $38.00 overdraft fee on a debit purchase that I had already transferred money into the account to cover—and that was based on their figures that are supposed to be up-to-date on their website. Their excuse is that they can’t guarantee the accuracy of their website; why not????? They put in the numbers! And then on top of that, they charged me another fee of $38.00 to cover that fee, and another and another and another and another. In total, they charged me SIX overdraft fees of $38.00 without justification because I had already transferred hundreds of dollars into the accounts that they would not take into account! When I complained, they refunded me $114.00, but then still charged me TWO MORE overdraft fees of $38.00—to cover the last two $38.00 overdraft fees. They charge me $12.00 every time I go into my overdraft account, which I try not to do but in this economy and with all my medical bills I end up doing sometimes. The biggest problem I see with the banks today is that they are charging fees on top of fees because they can right now—it’s going to come to an end in July 2010 so they’re going to make hay while the sun shines. This Government did the consumer no favors by passing that banking bill earlier this year.
