If you live in Southern California – or have spoken to friends in the region – then you know that right now, residing in the region is akin to living in a bowl of smoke. I did see the long line of fire last night on the freeway in going to Chino which was getting bad so we turned around and came home.

I hope the future generations get to see what we see today of the beauty of the Artic and the wonders that God made for man. It's like your parents telling you not to destroy something because you'll never get it again. Let's see if we adults learned that lesson.

Looks like the G-20 Summit was just good for a meal. At lease the World Leaders spoke up before the event and said no decisions would be made until Obama took office.

Uncle Ted Stevens is hosed. Russia waiting to talk to Obama.

Today the Giants won and in 1981 Luke/Laura were married with 30 million people watching, me too.

See you at 5:30 pm

Waiting to exhale

Dear Lester,

I saw Peter Alexander's Arctic adventure on Today. It is a terrific piece of reporting. Peter is really a trooper: I can't imagine being cooped up on a ship for 23 days! A mariner I am not!

Jackie: Good to hear that you are safe from the wildfires thus far. I hope things stay that way.

Lots of love to the usual suspects: Lisa, Jackie, Stephanie, Celine, Claudia, Anna, and Matt. XOXO

Waiting to exhale

I hate to say it. But the Egyptians built how many pyramids without any modern machinery?

And yet, they still haven't figured out to set up sprinkler systems on the roofs of california homes that border the parks and forests? And they haven't set up a ground based sprinkler system along those areas in the los angeles areas?

Sure it would be a massive undertaking--- but like I said--- if we can have pyramids then we can surely have a massive sprinkler system. We could even have it as water pumped from the ocean and that way the firemen wouldn't have to deal with lack of water pressure AND drinking water wouldn't be wasted.

We have built tons of huge highway overpasses galore out here in LA --- but a sprinkler system is too much?

Think of all the long term money, homes, lives it could save. But has anyone figured this out yet? No.

No, having helicopters fruitlessly pick up a giant bucket of water that ain't so giant and then flying into smoke to dump the water on the 100 foot flames---Yeah, that makes MUCH more sense.

The sheer widespread ineptitude makes me want to move away.

Waiting to exhale

Mr. Holt,
I was hoping Mother Nature would give
Southern California and its people a break.
If I had five minutes to leave my home,
hopefully, I would have the presence of mind
to deal with the situation. The story was
heartbreaking.

Phyllis Kunz

Waiting to exhale

Good Evening Mr.Holt, A fine broadcast this evening. First of all the terrible wildfires in California looked positively devastating and hopefully people will be able to rebuild. The report by Mr. Mullen showed how random the fires could be by sparing one home and destroying the home next door. With three major fires to fight it is tremendously hard to send out warnings in time to everyone in the area because crews are stretched to their utmost limit. My heart goes out to all those families who lost everything in the fires. Many things are irreplacable. When you spoke with Governor Schwarzenegger it seems like he has done everything he can to help the process of putting out the fires and those displaced. The State is well prepared for emergencies, but these fires sre overwhelming and I do hope the firefighters get a break from the fierce winds to quell the flames.

On another note hearing that the US troops could be in Iraq until the end of 2011 is not good news for the families who would rather have their loved ones home. Hopefully, someday the Iraqi forces can secure the region without the help of the US troops. Time will tell.
The "Making A Difference" segment by Mr.Taibbi was very nice and shows how one person can help so many people. The houses being built for disabled Veterans is a wonderful thing because it gives back to those who fought with their lives for our country. The man who started the organization is using all the right resources to make a huge difference in these soldiers and their families lives. Thirty-three homes so far across the nation and growing. New wonderful and priceless memories being made. Good Piece!

The piece by Mr.Alexander was very interesting about the Northwest Passage and the ecosystem under the waters of the Arctic. Some odd creatures at the bottom of the ocean. Hopefully, these ecosystems will not be hurt by the climate changes of the waters.

Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Holt. Peace to You and to All!

Lots of Love to Laurel,Jackie,Stephanie,Claudia,Celine,Anna and Matt!
Be Well Always!
Stay Extra Safe and Well Richard! Hope to see you on Nightly News!
XOXO

Waiting to exhale

Lester NBC us asking the right questions and demanding that our President follow the law or he might get impeached if he doesn't. Oh that's only the rule for Obama to follow as we've seen George W. Bush break every law this country has even destroying emails and fixing the Departments of Govenment to commit crimes while not one Journalist, Media station or American has said one word. Now that Obama is taking office we demand the President follow the law or else. We're worried about Obama's blackberry more then we worried about the torture, kidnapping, rape and murder the Bush Administratiion has done to innocent men/woman/children.

Arnie is just sitting in the seat as Californians wait for his exist date. Arnie is now sucking up to the Dems for a job as he uses his wife family name. Arnie was selected by Republicans as they knew Enron's scam. It worked and we're still paying for that fraud. Now as you've notice Bush did nothing for California and Arnie is doing his best acting job. We all makes mistakes and sometimes get tricked too. We in California got both with Arnie and I know he wont trick Raul Emanuel.

Lester sometimes I wonder why people say stupid things. Hillary Clinton is qualified to be President of the United States of America. Now what's with this stuff is she qualified to be Secretary of State. Connie Rice did nothing more then carry memo's in her job as Secretary of State. World Leaders knew right away she knew nothing and was qualified so they bever dud work with her. Cheney was the man to deal with in any matter concerning Secretary of State. Hillary and Obama play as a team. Hillary knows what makes a great Leader. You earn the right to be a Leader by frist being a great followers. I think the Media and Republicans are really afraid of both Hillary and Obama. At lease we know the Russian President is excited about meeting with our new President. That hasn't happen in 8 years.

It was a great story about our Vets. Lester I still email our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanstan just to let them know someone is thinking about them. Their waiting for Jan. 20th as we all are. If every American did a little something it would go a long way for our troops. There are so many young men/woman who need our help it's amazing.

Lester I caught the time change because of the football game on channel 4.

Best to my friends Lisa, Laurel, Stephanie, Claudia, Celine, Anna and Matt

Waiting to exhale

Late this afternoon I bought of all things,
The Green Bible, something new.
Phyllis Kunz

Waiting to exhale

My parents live down wind of the Orange County/Diamond Bar fire in the unincorporated part of the Puente Hills. Obama
a negro, I saw a book called "The Negro President"
by Garry Wills and he was referring to Thomas Jefferson, not Obama, and he was not prying into
his private life about Sally Hemmings.

They were challenging his public boast that the election of 1800 was a "second Revolution" based
on the based on the expressed will of the
popular majority. It was no such thing they
argued. In terms of actual votes John Adams
was re-elected."

On your title , Waiting to Exhale, I have a book
by this title by Terry McMillian which broke my
writer's block years ago and if it had not been
for the terrific novel I would not be able to
finish any writing.
