I have had the cam on for about 15min, I hope to see what Brian was refering to on the Nightly News. The puppy appears to be in a deep sleep.

Due to the President-elect's family moving into the White House with a new puppy
I predicted to my family that news programs would begin to focus on dogs and other furry house pets.

I believe this is a good thing. There are too many animals that are neglected. With the interest in the new White House puppy, people may take notice and adopt and/or spay/neuter their furry friends.

awwwww, I think we all needed something like that! I lost one dog last year after extended illness and have only one dog left, blind, heart condition but still happy and cantankerous...:) After that no more. My daughter who us half the age of my dogs has severe allergies.... :(. I still love dogs :)

Just what is it that attracts our attention to this sort of video ? I believe it is because we all, deep inside ourselves, want to love. Love life.
Here we see puppies who are vulnerable, beautiful and as innocent as can be. They have committed no wrong, look for warmth from their siblings and, as we like to imagine, would welcome our affections as we picked them up, held them to our napes and cooed sweet nothings at them.
I'm sure there will be people who poopoo such thoughts.

These Shibas are just old enough so that their noses have elongateded and their ears now pointy as well. Prior to this stage they look (and feel) like Koala Bears (plush toys). My Chibi Chan ( meaning 'the little one')is a beauty; she was the runt of the litter of 5 that her Mom, Shoga,birthed. It was a neighborhood event for months. Shoga died at 14 last year and it took Chibi Chan a long time to recover from losing her mom; she is now 11 years and still looks like a puppy; very delicate, slightly smaller than breed, and very foxy looking.

Be a saint this Christmas and give a home to an animal who might not live to see the new year, and remember when giving a dog or cat as a gift, it is for life, not just for Christmas!

My son and I love watching these puppies. We have wanted a Shiba for several years. It's nice to see something so sweet and to see how many people are interested. I would like to see more things like this on the news.

Oh I had forgotten what Shiba puppies looked like. I have a 6-year-old male named Chaz and he is the sweetest dog and VERY affectionate. Each one definitely has their own STRONG personality and ours keeps our golden retriever in place. They are the best of friends though and wrestle the day away.

My second Shiba arrives next month. The first was a rescue, the 2nd a puppy. Can't wait, but feel I must caution that cute as they are, Shibas are a bit of challenge to raise - worth it, but still challenging. Read everything you can, and give it careful thought before taking the plunge. They are truly unique and we love our's, but they are not for everyone. I say this only to avoid having shelters brimming with confused Shibas due to buyers' remorse and/or irresponsbile breeding to meet the demand that the Puppy Cam will probably create. I LOVE the Puppy Cam though and hope it will remind dog-free families of the joy that Man's Best Friend can bring. And if a Shiba is for you - you will probably want two!!
