P.S. - I went to see "The Dark Knight" on Friday. Senator Patrick Leahy has a cameo, and there's a television reporter character whose last name is.... Engel. (Played by Anthony Michael Hall, of all people!) :-)

I had hoped that tonight's promo of unsung stories about medal winners - other than Phelps would really live up to it's intro.

Sadly, it did not....all of those featured had been featured in someway or another in previous NBC coverage. Surely, there must have been some other of the 110 medal winners that deserved some prime time mention other than repeating coverage.

Don't get me wrong....what they accomplished was great.....but there are others who should be featured.

Good Evening Mr.Holt, Great broadcast this evening from Beijing! Great to see Richard on the broadcast! Wearing a beautiful blue shirt too! You did an AWESOME JOB reporting from Beijing! Always wonderful to see you! You have done a super job too Mr.Holt! You have some great memories from Beijing! It will be nice to have you return to the United States though! Hope you have alot of mexican food and plenty of sleep! Now on to the broadcast! Richard's report about the unsung heroes of these Olympic games shows how these men and women really made great achievements in their sports. Beginning with Jason Lezak in swimming relays, Bryan Clay winning the Decathalon,the Women's Soccer Team winning Gold, the 19yr old PFC in shooting winning gold, and the 21yr old wrestling champion who won Gold. They all made super strides in their sports and winning Gold. I am happy that Michael Phelps will be on a Corn Flakes box, but I am also happy about Bryan Clay maybe ending up on a Wheaties box. They are all winners! Great JOB USA Olympic Team! Another wonderful report Richard! Always love to see you on Nightly News!
The report by Mr.Mullen about the Closing Ceremonies looks like it is spectacular again! I am looking forward to seeing it on NBC! These Olympics have received some extremely high ratings and so many records broken! All the athletes performed so well!
I certainly hope London can be just as exciting in 2012! Regarding Mr.Maceda's report it appears they are combining what they already have accomodations for in terms of certain venues and I'm sure building new venues. I'm sure it will be great!
Now Mr.Williams and the rest of the NBC Team is ready in Denver for the Democratic National Convention this week; It is a huge week for Senator Obama and Senator Biden. Now the speeches begin!

As I've watched the evening news, I've really been thinking, "Poor Brian Williams! Umpteen days in Beijing covering the Olympics, then come back and head straight to Denver for the DNC, then to spend the following week at the RNC...that has got to be exhausting." I really feel for him. I used to travel a lot on business and I know how it is.

You go to a convention that promises change. Do they honestly feel that way? I thought all along the government was there to protect the people, yet they say now if we elect them they will look out for the common man/woman. The Economy is in such a mess, I thought it was their duty to step in, say like the Gas prices, for the welfare of the people(the whole), take over the gas companies, and force them to lower their prices. Politicians say they can't interfere with companies, but didn't they do that with the airlines and promised to fine them if they let passengers sit to long on the tarmac?, what's the difference, unless it was a politician that waited to long.

Since we were in Beijing, too, I did not see any NBC coverage until the Closing Ceremony, which was great, other than an on-site view at the Today show taping of Monday, 18 August. (see my blog on web site).

Really laughed, though, just reading your Mexican food comment. My son, a Newsweek correspondent who also runs the Stone Boat bar/cafe in Bejing, CRAVES Mexican food the most when he comes home to the US to visit! Hard to find at any level in China. Travel safely.

It turns out that a Biden brother lives in Louisville.
The article was in this morning's Louisville
Courier-Journal. A small world, indeed.

The series "Improving with Age" by you and Mr. Williams is very interesting. My husband and I have
our passports and we both would like to take tours
in the future. I'm really not much of a traverler,
the most important thing to me is becoming a
published author and doing something wortwhile. I
missed out on a decade and I have a lot of catching
up to do and that's what movitivates me.

I saw you on TV last night and you looked like
the All-American guy. Just a compliment, not meant
