On August 23rd, the only openly gay male Olympic athlete, Matthew Mitcham won the gold medal in 10m platform diving. NBC did not mention Mr. Mitcham's orientation, nor did they show his family and partner who were in the stands. NBC has made athletes' significant others a part of the coverage in the past, choosing to spotlight track athlete Sanya Richards' fiancee, a love triangle between French and Italian swimmers and Kerri Walsh's wedding ring debacle. Why was Mr. Mitcham and his family not treated equally? There are plenty of GLBT people who would have loved to have shared this family's triumph. It's a shame that you don't treat GLBT people and their families with the respect and consideration you give to others. We're here and we watch NBC news - although maybe it's time to change.

I wonder why this important component of John McCains Health Plan was not mentioned in your comparision of the candidates presented this evening. "Reform the tax code to eliminate the exclusion of the value of health insurance plans offered by employers from workers’ taxable income".

On the Nightly News of October 1, 2008 there was a story by your reporter Ron Allen regarding Senator Obama and Senator Biden and he interviewed a few of the residents and those working on the various campaigns. During his report he mentioned Scranton, PA numerous times. However, I and many others that live in Scranton have this pet peeve when someone pronouces the name of our city the way he did.
I am aware that many of the local citizens also pronouce Scranton the way he did but having lived outside of this area and going to college at Penn State -myself and many of my friends have been made fun of the way we pronouce Scranton. So ever since we have all made it a point to be more careful when we say the name.
So my request is that when you or your reporters pronounce the name of our city -we ask that you please keep in mind that the " T " is not silent.
They way some of the reporters pronounce it, you would think the word was spelled " Scranon".
We are proud of our city and really think its name should be pronounced correctly- I would think you would agree.

Tim Russerts was WONDERFUL on several levels. But, his best quality was to SPEAK SLOWLY IN NORMAL TERMS PEOPLE COULD UNDERSTAND. Your new political person speaks so fast I could barely understand him. I know you're filling some HUGE shoes but please listen to this comment because I KNOW I can't be the only one that feels this way. Thank you.

December 15, 2008 Tonight Brian will discuss the possible salary for First Ladies. Why not discuss whether military spouses, especially with children, are not compensated when their loved ones are deployed. 15/16 month deployments, with three children under 8 can take its toll on the spouse. Most often, they can even afford child care to do some of the necessary trips/errands. Add these people to that parol.
