We have just gotten hold of a copy of Sarah Palin's new book "Going Rogue," thanks to the dogged and resourceful work of our Nightly News interns and production assistants.

The book is not being released until Tuesday, and copies have been very hard to come by. That of course hasn't stopped endless speculation about what's in it. We'll be speed reading through it here in the newsroom this afternoon, and will have more about it, along with the endless fascination with Palin, on tonight's program.

Also this evening we'll bring you up to speed on the deal President Obama is trying to forge with Russia's President Medvedev over nuclear arms. They're both in Singapore at a meeting of Asia-Pacific leaders. As the president focuses on one of the major hold over issues from the Cold War, a decision on what to do about the current war in Afghanistan looms large. NBC's Savannah Guthrie will have more from Singapore this evening.

For a guy who a lot of people love to hate, convicted swindler Bernie Madoff is drawing a lot of interest from memorabilia seekers. Jeff Rossen will report on a government auction of Bernie and Ruth Madoff's belongings, and the stunning amounts of cash it’s generating on everything from his New York Mets jacket to his wife's jewelry.

I hope you can join us tonight for NBC Nightly News.

Lester,
I will have to pick up Sarah Palin's book
next week which should be a good read.
She is fascinating.

Good news that the worst is over in
Virginia Beach.

The story about Japan's first lady
is interesting.  At one time I
thought reincarnation was a ridiculous
notion, but now I think there "may"
be something to it which therefore
makes me a "socialist" on top of
everything else.

The choleterol drug Lipitor I am
taking may fight swine flu so I have
decided, in my case, not to get the
flu shot, but my husband will opt
for the swine flu shot.  I am not
recommending that individuals on Lipitor
skip the flu shot, just saying I feel
it is the right decision for me.

I am against the suspects being
ed to NYC for a trial.  My
husband, however, does not see a
problem with it.

A great broadcast, as always.

Good Evening Mr.Holt, Another fine Saturday broadcast this evening. First of all the report by Savannah Guthrie concerning President Obama's trip to Asia. There are many key issues to be discussed especially security with regards to Iran and North Korea free trade regarding China and Japan. Yet, the issues are overshadowed by President Obama's decision about Afghanistan and the US troops levels. One can agree it needs to be done right. One really hopes for all the troops to come home very soon.

Very sad to see the funerals for the victims of the Fort Hood shootings. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families.

On a weather note the report by Julie Martin from Virginia Beach really exhibited the huge flooding and damage caused by Tropical Storm Ida. So much beach erosion slong Virginia Beach and people are cleaning up slowly from all the flooding. Hearing about 15foot waves along the New Jersey shore was incedible because many thought it wouldn't be as bad. Hopefully, everyone will be able to clean up quickly from all the storm damage.

The report by Chris Jansing from New Orleans about the free health clinic showed how so many people were able to get the care they needed. Diagnosisis made by the doctors to help people get the proper medicine and really save lives.

The report by Mr.Rossen concerning the auctioning of Mr.Madoff's belongings was quite interesting. So many expensive items of jewelry, clothes, golf clubs, among many other things. It showed the lavish lifestyle of the Madoff's and it was good the proceeds are going to help the victims of his ponzi scheme. Although no matter what prices these items are auctioned there will never be enough money to replace what he stole from these people.

The "Making A Difference" segment by Mr.Alexander was very nice. The man who began fixing bicycles many years ago turning over the task of repairing these bikes to special needs kids to repair them and give them to kids who can't afford them is wonderful. His passion for fixing bikes has resulted in bringing joy to so many children over the years.

Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Holt. See You on Sunday for Weekend Today and Nightly News! Peace to You and to All!

Lots of Love to Laurel,Jackie,Stephanie,Claudia,Celine,Anna,Lori,Cary and Matt!
Be Well Always!
Stay Extra,Extra Safe and Well Richard! Look Forward to Your Report Sunday on Nightly News!
XOXO
Lester,

This Sunday morning (11/15/09) I tuned
in to the Today Show and caught the
interview about the chimp and I could
not believe what I was hearing when
the woman who owned the chimp that
horriby disfigured the woman, said
if she had it to do all over again
she would.  Some never learn from
their mistakes.

Liked the Tony Bennet story and your
gray suit. I believe there is an old
novel entitled "The Man in the Gray
Suit".  Anyway, Tony Bennet is amazing.
And my husband was a big fan of
Frank Sinatra.

Why does the Media still talk about Sarah isn't her fifthteen minutes up yet? Her book was rushed to print with complete lies. The price has dropped to 4.99 and it's not even out yet. Now one of the most stupid questions was said by David Gregory to Hillary Clinton. Hillary is busy with World affairs and David ask will she read Sarah's book. With all the honest intelligent books out there why as about a stupid one. David has worked hard for the GOP and this shows he still is. Now David should be worried about the pending charges against Scooter Libby that Pat Fitzgerald didn't charge last year. Yes more charges and more trials with the Bush Administration. NBC would be wise to review their workers before the take over.

Maria on WSJ-cnbc is so funny and working hard to spin the a story of the GOP. She suggested we can't afford Health Care and agreed with her guest that the US should wait until our Economy is better. Now Maria seems to forget Clinton's Health Care Plan when we had money but the GOP stopped it. Maria forgot Bush gave Iraq 1 TRILLION dollars as said they didn't have to pay it back to the US taxpayers. We could have used our money. I noticed how most of those pushing to stop the Health Care Plan are more up set about President Obama's tax increase on the Wealthy. Yes folks not the middle class or low income Americans just those who make over 1 million dollars.

Many of those GOP officials sent to prison will be asking President Obama for a pardon soon. Madoff will start calling in his favors soon and who knows might even ask Israel to put in a good word on his behalf. One friend told me God forgave David for his sin.

Have a great evening all
Has NBC Nightly News decided to emulate the faux "fair and balanced" approach of the Fox News Channel? Last night's presentation of the controversy surrounding the decision to try five of the prisoners in US courts was appalling. Not one argument in favor of the decision, not one possible explanation as to why such a decision might be justified was offered. Instead, the viewers were treated to the fear mongering commentary of those who believed terrorists would descend upon the city and wreak havoc on the long suffering New Yorkers who have already been through so much.  Please!!!! Even some conservatives are recognizing that this decision is crucial for the preservation of the American constitutional tradition and the respect for the rule of law. Why can't you present some of those views as well?

Let's hear from the other side. Give us some REAL fair and balanced reporting!!!!!
l love to watch the news and all the reporting, but you guy are wearing me out with this sarah palin stuff.we have more important things in the world to report on.if you know what i mean.
