The Neighbor’s Keeper Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee is a charitable organization that my wife, Faith, and I founded in 2004 to help people in need and encourage the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors. It seeks to strengthen communities throughout the United States by contributing to diverse projects, with primary emphasis on children's initiatives.

Faith and I chose the name "Neighbor’s Keeper" because we felt it really summed up the responsibility each of us has to one another. We were both raised in small Southern towns where people were always willing to lend a helping hand, and we’ve been blessed with the opportunity to do the same through Neighbor’s Keeper.

When I was growing up in Start, Louisiana, one of my greatest heroes was my basketball coach, Larry Butler. Not only was he a terrific coach, he made sure that we learned what it meant to be part of a team off the court, too. When it flooded – which it did every year – Coach Butler would load up his players in the back of his truck and take us to the local cotton gin where there was a huge pile of sand. We would fill sand bags, load them in the truck and bring them to people’s yards and anywhere else they might be needed. It was Coach Butler’s way of teaching us how to give back to our community, a premise that is central to The Neighbor’s Keeper Fund.

When news breaks about a pressing need, Neighbor’s Keeper moves quickly to identify how its resources can have the greatest impact in the shortest amount of time. Then we find the local organization that is best suited to the task – and we give them the funds they need to get the job done.

Every day you can make a difference in the lives of the people around you. I encourage you to seek out ways to strengthen your own community. And if you’d like to join us in our mission at The Neighbor’s Keeper Fund, please check out our website at http://timmcgraw.com/neighbors-keeper.html. Together we can accomplish great things!

Tim McGraw, after selling millions of records and now doing a little acting, has the ultimate goal of becoming Governor of Tennessee.

Most fans don't know his politics but, assuming he's Democrat, he will not be welcomed by his followers who are overwhelmingly pro-Republican. That's where the party ends. Right now he's simply trying to gain favors and do the things he needs to do to gain more credibility in his career.

Remember, he and Kenny Chesney "borrowed"
a police horse while half drunk, in New york City.
They had the feeling they could obviously do whatever they wanted. They were stars, remember.

After the arrests and trail, which Faith Hill attended, they were let off. Why? Because of who they were. The police dept wasn't happy the outcome.
Let his carrer die just like everyone elses.
I think the comment posted on this page regarding Tim and Kenny is off the wall.  These two men are not saints but do everything they can for the communities that they live in. Just because they had one or maybe two slip ups in thier lives doesn't mean they should be ostersized. Tim is a great man and he deserves all the credit that is due to him.
Who cares what his politics are?  The man is doing something to help others.  That alone deserves our praise.  I could care less what he did years ago.  Focus on what he's doing now.  What are you doing besides surfing the net and acting like a negative nanny?
Full Moon, you obviously have an issue with people who have the ability to do good and do it. I have been lucky enough to attend Tim's Bread and Water show and he charged $25 to get in and then spent the rest of the night, into the morning(3am) singing songs for the Red Cross(before Neighbor's Keeper). He had already spent 1.5hr. entertaining his fans at the Arena show, so I'm sure he was dogtired. What his politics have to do with any of this, I'm not sure. If you're under the impression it's in order to win votes in a governor's race, you couldn't be farther off base. I have had the unique pleasure of meeting this man in person and honestly, you couldn't meet a more genuine human being :)
It was so refreshing, to read a story that was uplifting.  Especially, when there are so many daily challenges.

Full Moon, I don't understand bringing politics and past misdeeds into this...haven't we all done things without thinking...leave the judging to the one with ultimate authority.  In regards to the political nonsense...I don't disregard people based solely on party affiliaton...I'm not a Dem.

To Mr. McGraw and Mrs. Hill...I'm happy to see you doing things to benefit people in need...it was great being reminded of down home values.  Sometimes it seems like they have been forgotten...but then you see something like this and it gives hope and inspires...thank you.
Tsk Tsk, Full Moon... alcohol makes fools out of most everyone who abuses it, including celebrities.  I personally appreciate any assistance stars give to causes.  Whether there is an ulterior motive behind it or not, it gets help to those who need it.

Thank you, Tim, for reminding us that we are all our neighbors' keepers and need to help those around us.  Our egocentric lifestyle makes remembering that simple lesson easy to forget.
I think celebrities who act irresponsibly are like anyone else. They are sometimes given leeway and sometimes have to pay the piper, no less than a young person given a chance to not have a record or someone down on their luck.

Living under the spotlight of public criticism to  which they are constantly exposed for the small and for the unforgiveable, they should sometimes get a break just like others. Then sometimes they should pay just like others, live up to some responsibility to to those young and old who look up to them. Perhaps an unfair burden, but then the balance of rewards could also be considered unfair.

I appreciate that Tim and his wife willingly contribute so much artistically and personally to the world in which they live and from which receive so much.

Is there anyone who doesn't have an embarrassing "story" of a foolish thing he/she did, which was not typical of their behavior? Re-read this article and balance the positive action of helping people with that "story". I admire him and his wife for their positive, quick way to help others.
Yes he did "borrow" a horse in Central Park and go to court over it. But have  we not all done stupid things in our youth? I believe that he has grown tremendously as a entertainer, husband, father, and as a man since those days. He and his wife do many many good things for their community and the needy. Lets  quit nit- picking every discretion a person amy have made in their past, and look at who they are right now.
The benefits of assisting people rebuild are for all of us as citizens.  Do not disparage the help of anyone who hopes to make a difference.  If those with ability want to make an enormous difference they could help disabled veterans start the Work 4 Life Program in Jacksonville, MS.  The manufacture of product to rebuild this area can help people rebuild with sustainable "green" building products www.w4lp.org
Everybody has flaws, nobody is perfect. The fact that he is doing something to change lives is what matters. keep what you do best and we will follow by your example. And you are cute too.
This is not a political agenda page so keep it off. Thanks Tim and Faith for giving back to the community. We love you both and Full Moon can suck on a lemon.
I am so glad to see how Tim and Faith (Hill) McGraw have opened up the chanels through their celebrity to help children and people of all ages with their needs. I know how hard it is to find help when you don't know where to turn. The comment made on Nov. 13th made assumptions that they are Democrat and it is just that, an assumption. Their political choices don't really apply when they are doing a wonderful thing to help people and to set and example of maybe how we can all do something to help. As far as the horse incident, he probably should have been fined and maybe he was, I don't know, I wasn't there. We all make stupid mistakes, errors in judgement, especially when we are younger and as we grow a bit older, we tend to take life a little more seriously, hopefully. This issue is not about whether they are Dems or Republicans (which secretly I hope they are), or whether he wants to be governor of a state some day, but about helping people in need!! I don't have very much money and I'm not a celebrity but it makes me want to see if I can find a way to help even in a small way. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Diabetes, and Fibromyalgia and I'm getting older, but I can try to find some way to follow in their tracks and participate in helping some how some way.
