Threats, on more than one front

It's been an unsettling couple of days--from Iran's admission it has a secret nuclear facility under construction and suspicions in the West that it may be for weapons production--to a series of unrelated terror plots here at home.

Tonight we'll be reporting on developments from both fronts, including President Obama's new message to Iran, and new pieces of a plot a terror suspect may have been planning to unleash in New York city.

Plenty of American couples have to turned to in-vitro fertilization in order to have children, but two stories in the news are raising serious questions about how frozen embryos are handled. Tonight we'll tell you about a Louisiana clinic that has apparently mixed up several embryos.  It follows on the heels of an Ohio woman who was accidentally implanted with another couples' embryo.

Thanks for checking in. I hope you will join us for NBC Nightly News.

You just had a segment on the brave medics in Afghanistan.  How proud I am of these young men and women who are risking their lives to save the lives of those brave soldiers who our fighting for freedom!!  I am a mother of an Army infantry soldier in Afghanistan.  I will sleep slightly better tonight because I viewed that segment. Thank-you!
Good Evening Mr.Holt, Nice to see you for a Saturday broadcast of Nightly News! Another fine broadcast this evening! First of all the report by Mr.Viqueira concerning Iran and the nuclear facility in their region. Iran was caught off guard about the other leaders calling them out on the discovery of the nuclear facility. The country should all inspectors access to the facility and be cooperative and informative in their intentions with the use of the facility. It is disturbing to learn of all the underground tunnels and the weapons materials, but hopefully this inspection will cease any further intentions by the country to develop nuclear weapons for harmful purposes. As President Obama stated in his speech that tougher sanctions will be enforced if the country does not comply. Hopefully, they will comply fully.
The report by Mr.Maceda from Afghanistan regarding the dangers of flight medics reaching the wounded soldiers on the ground showed just how much risk these flight medics take in going to save these wounded soldiers on the ground. Facing the gunfire, rugged peaks and the dangerous taliban the flight medics do everything they can to help save the wounded soldiers. It is incredible to see them doing surgical procedures right out on the battlefield, but those minutes after injury are terribly vital and the more they can do right away the better chance of the soldier surviving. One can understand the emotion with the medics taking care of their fellow comrades because like the one medic stated the soldiers are fighting for their families at home. The Nautilus vehicles are extremely important to the medis and one hopes more will be on the way soon. Hopefully. someday all the soldiers can finally come home.

The rain is finally moving out and tomorrow should be a dry day. It rained again today very hard, but it did stop and hopefully for all those families drastically effected by the rainfall they can recover soon.

The piece by Mr.Alexander from Moncaco showing the huge and gorgeous yachts really made one think money is no object to these people. The yachts were simply incredible with the amenities one could only imagine having on a boat. Certainly a lifestyle for the rich and super rich people. I hope they are enjoying the use of the yachts.
Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Holt. See you on Sunday! Peace to You and to All!

Lots of Love tov Laurel,Jackie,Stephanie,Claudia,Celine,Anna,Lori,Cary and Matt!

Hi Lester,

Hope you had a nice wk.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Pres. Obama will be able to handle those "3am calls" concerning Iran. Even though his presidency may be young, he's brilliant and he has restraint. We know Pres. Obama isn't going to bomb, bomb, bomb Iran, unless they try to bomb us. And Pres. Obama isn't like a bull in a china shop. He's knows what the word "diplomacy" means. So I don't even know why that question was discussed with John Harwood.

As for billionaires you showed in Monaco with their big boats, I would be willing to bet that dollar per dollar, millionaires in NYC lavish themselves in similar ways--penthouses on 5th ave., sold out tickets with the snap of a finger, Dom Perignon with a few friends after the lastest premiere of a Julia Roberts or Meryl Streep vehicle...so many ways for people to spend a buck. Anyway...

That's all I wanted to comment on. I hope to get to watch you tomorrow evening, and if not, have a great upcoming week.

Vicki

The main question is why US did not bring this up earlier?
Good Evening Mr.Holt, I am leaving a comment for Sunday's broadcast on this posting since there was no Sunday post as of yet. Another fine broadcast this evening. First of all the report by Mr.Viqueira concerning President Obama facing some major issues on his agenda and difficult decisions. The issue of Iran and the nuclear facility not previously known is disturbing and makes it certainly understandable for officials to be demanding access to the facility. Also,Iran's testing of mid-range missiles is something many officials will be looking closely to come to any answers as to why. The War in Afghanistan and the possible sending of more US troops is not being well received. Hearing from General McChrystal and General Petraeus on the subject of more troops brings to mind having more men and women of the military in harms way. The situation in the region bewteen the taliban and the corruption within the government is tumultuous. The recent elections in the region were rigged and there is still no clear leader to have won. The conflict in the region seems endless and one wonders if there will ever be a peaceful end. Hopefully, someday there will be.

On another note the report by Mr.Mott from Austell,Georgia showed how people are trying to clean-up and rebuild their lives and homes after the devastating floods caused by all the recent rainfall. Estimated to be 1/2 billion in damage it is heartbreaking to see all the homes destroyed and rainfall yesterday did not help the situation. But people are coming together to help eachother and hopefully people will rebuild and recover quickly.
The next few days do not have rain predicted in the forecast so there is some relief.
The report by Janet Shamlian concerning people living in campgrounds showed how this economy has hit so many people hard. The campgrounds being very crowded shows how things can turn around so quickly for many people with rising unemployment due to this terrible economy. One can understand the strong sense of community and that people look out for eachother very much in these tough times. It is not perfect, but it is home to so many families. Hopefully, things will turn for the better soon.

The "Making A Difference" segment by Mr.Alexander was especially nice this evening. This young women badly injured in a subway accident is really making a huge impact with her music all over the world. She is extremely gifted and brings that gift to all the young people who want to learn to make music. Starting the foundation to help young musicians by loaning instruments and financial assistance does help make a deep impact on their lives. She is truly reaching out to people through her music and that is wonderful.
Nice Piece!

Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Holt! Peace to You and to All!

I saw your "cameo" appearance on Nightly News with
Brian Williams, and you both were terrific as I wrote
to him  In this morning's Louisville Courier Journal
it was noted that Mayor Daley was also disappointed
about Chicago losing 2016 Olympic Bid.  In 1973, when
we moved into this area, a next-door's neighbor's
brother was a bodyguard to Mayor Daley (the father
I suppose).  Small world, huh?

I hope you and Brian have a great weekend.
