Okay here we go:

What are they driving in Iraq these days? (Actually I knew this one because a friend in the military told me)

The Apple ban in the Gates household

And a moment I witnessed on the incoming video pool feed and noted at the time -- superbly synopsized by Nia-Malika Henderson in Politico. My only fear is that it will spawn a lot of Margaret Mead-esque reporting about some newly-discovered code.

On the news front: we have a simply amazing NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll to debut on the broadcast tonight. It's one of many important stories we are covering tonight, and we hope you'll join us.

Good evening, Brian.

Wow, (the article on American SUVS in Iraq), that is such an interesting story. It's great that our American motor vehicles that aren't doing too well here right now can do some good for the people of Iraq.

Just while I'm sitting here reading your blog about the Obama's I get a phone call, and have to go. I will read as soon as I get back.

Very much looking forward to the broadcast tonight!

I will join you at 6:30.

Hi Brian
Makes since for the Iraq people to want SUV's they have the oil and now the money to live good.

I got to read some of the Bush secret anti-terror memos and John Dean said exactly what I was thinking.
John Dean: Bush almost became an 'unconstitutional Dictator.  Just think of the false reports given over the 8 years as we were all used. It was funny to read how the Bush lawyers tried to change the rules a couple of days before President Obama took office.

All I hear is how Rush wants the President to fail (hello) if the President fails the United States fails. Rahm Emanuel is right to except the Republican's choice of Rush as their Leader. Most people think Rush is funny or on something so he's not crediitable anyway.

It's nice to have shares in the banks and who knew it would happen. When Hank Paulson gave the Banks money he didn't ask for any conditions so it was lost taxpayers money. Now the taxpayers have an interest and the Banks have rules.  I saw Karl Rove giving advice on how to repair the US Economy and it was so funny.

see you same time same place
When discussing the WSJ poll tonight I was amazed to hear you say that someone compared Michelle Obama to Eleanor Roosevelt.  First it was Jackie Kennedy and now Eleanor Roosevelt.  Don't you think this is a little much, what has she done in two months to compare her to Eleanor Roosevelt?
Good Evening Mr.Williams, A fine broadcast this evening as always. First of all the report from Kelly O'Donnell exhibited how angry people are with the economic crisis and the limit of the amount of money used to bailout the financial system. It appears to be endless the huge amounts of money being given to save these companies. Hearing the Federal Reserve Chairman say it is hard to judge the limit of money needed is disturbing.
I hope there is a good end in sight.
The report by Mr.Todd showing the poll numbers about President Obama and the work being done was interesting. Certainly high approval ratings for the President and the track the country is taking, especially high approval concerning the war with the troop withdrawal. And the First Lady Michelle Obama received high approval too! Tough times in the nation and world and the hope of better things to come.

The "What Works" segment by Mr.Tibbles showed how people who have lost jobs are finding new careers. Learning new skills at two year technical colleges seems to be helping many stay working and support their families. It is good these schools are being attended so well. Starting over in a terrible economy and having positive results is good.

Hearing you speak about the asteroid that missed the earth was somewhat scary. Especially, when you mentioned what the result might have been had the asteroid hit the earth. Thank goodness it missed!

The piece by Mr.Sanders off the coast of Georgia concerning saving the whales really causes one to wonder how so many whales became entangled in the lines. I hope through the continued effort of the government biologists the whales can be saved and thrive.

Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Williams. And the links in this post. Peace to You and to All!

Lots of Love to Laurel,Jackie,Stephanie,Claudia,Celine,Anna,Lori,Cary and Matt!
Be Well Always!
Stay Extra Safe and Well Richard!
XOXO
You shoved Obama down our throats for the presidential election, now you're touting a phony poll to tell us how popular he is.  Ridiculous is all that I can say.  I'm out here in the real world where hard working people think he's the worst thing to hit the White House since Jimmy Carter.  We still have time to find the new Ronald Reagan to rescue us from these socialists and tax scofflaws.  But it had better be by the next election or the whole country and what it stands for will be lost. NBC shame and you and Mr. Williams.  No wonder no one watches you anymore.
Mr Williams,

In your broadcast, while I understood what you meant, it could have easily been understood that President Bush was against the missile defense system in Europe, while Russia was for it. You said "while dangling the idea of KILLING entirely A U.S MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM, A PLAN PROPOSED BY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION and strongly OPPOSED BY RUSSIA." Maybe it's just me, but it sounded out of place when I first heard it.
Mr Williams,

Thanks again for more great columns. The rahm article last week, the Obama mail and staff article yesterday, and the Gates and Obama slang article today. There are so many news sources out there these days I don't know which ones to pick to read daily. I usually just read whatever news sources have applications for my iPhone; AP, NYT, USA Today, and occasionally ITN. Thanks again.
My gosh, I couldn't believe what I was hearing this evening about our close encounter with an asteroid the size of a 10 story building. What can you possibly say about that? I don't think any words come to mind but "Wow" and "Thank God". I did hear about our possible encounter with an asteroid in the future, while watching an interview on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart actually. But I would have never expected this to happen. I imagine this must have been the talk of the day . . .

Wonderful news of the White Whale. What an amazing job they did saving the whale that was about to be strangled to death. It's really wonderful knowing that there are so many people out there who care this much about wild animals in danger and who can help them as these people do. I tell you, it's very inspiring.

Great broadcast tonight, Brian!

Thank you and Take Care,
-Cary
Chuck Todd's reporting on the NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll shows that the hateful and dangerous rhetoric from TalkShow Host Russ Limbaugh is being ignored by the majority of Americans who look to President 0bama as one who has the people's trust that his policies will eventually turn this economically troubled nation around. Is it any surprise that Mr. 0bama's approval rating is so high considering that the voters said "enough" with the Russ Limbaugh's,  Bobby Jinal's, Bill 0'Reilly's, Sean Hannity's, George Will's, Newt Gingich's, John Boehner's, and Mitch McConnell's of the far, extremist Right who helped lead us into this economic tragedy?
The story on people loading up community colleges certainly applies in my city. There's also some truth to the suggestion that it's "their loss" if displaced workers just sit home waiting for Uncle Sam to save them rather than going back to school. But it is good that Uncle Sam helps more people do just that, and hopefully he'll succeed in accelerating economic repair so that enough living wage work is available for those grads. We're going to need those future wages to pay down even the existing debt.
Your usual biased polls (Chuck Todd's report?)are anything but "amazing".  Once again, they are skewed way left.  Americans are not feeling that good about our economy and the President.  He has "spent" this economy into forever debt (give up on "he inherited it") and his continued actions and remarks make it even more grim, why would anyone want to invest right now.  Change your broadcasting and report the news by speaking the truth about what is really going on.  And, when polling, be fair and honest - that would be amazing.
Brian,
Could you explain the process of the polling you use?
Just who is being questioned? Your poll results are not reflective of the views of the many people I speak with about this financial crisis.
Thanks.
The show was great and the poll numbers of President Obama were interesting. But the comments show some are supportive of the Rush Factor. Americans supporting US failure because we don't have a Republican President shows how bad this country is. I remembering reading a book about how hard it was for FDR to bring the US out of the Great Depression with Republicans and their supporting fighting him tooth and nail. What's interesting is who the same Americans benefitted from FDR's plan they seem to forgot their comments.  Many Republicans didn't like Bill Clinton as President as it was hard to accept the lost of George H. W. Bush. But as our Economy improved and those same Republicans did very well with the success of the Stock Market, I was told by some " I don't like Clinton, but I love the way he's making we earn money in the Stock Market".  So Brian people will say anything their told to be a part of a group, but they will also look to benefit from the US Recovery.  Most of the Law Makers are angry because they were making money off the deals of the past such as pay to play. No G-Rod didn't invent it he just used it. Like children who are free to spend and now the parent says we have to budget.

NBC article of Russiana comment about the US collasping in one year should make Americans take the Challenge. World Leaders are waiting our country and the wing nuts like Rush, who try to bring us down. This country was formed by THE PEOPLE, not a wacko Radio host or even a President. Americans are in this mess because our last President silenced the voice of the people. Yes promises were made on election day, then never followed. As President Bush said himself " I am the Decider", which is what he did for 8 years even breaking our laws. I take the Russian's on with their challenge and again we the American people will win. I wish more people even Rush would try reading our American history and how we have been so succesful. One phase I look to when I heard the wacko comments is this:

Abraham Lincoln "A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand"

I'm sure the Russians and other World Leaders have read those famous words and hope that Americans follow Rush and his team of idiots. It would a a cake walk for a take over. Plus the US borrowed so much money from China during the 8 year free for all, China could just call in their loan. Americans are fighting banks to save their homes just time if China just said now they own everything. We made a big mistake and didn't learn from the pass as we allowed 8 years of chaos and thief by our Govenment. It's time to get down to business and build back our country while holding President Obama to do the job he was elected to do. Let's let the kids just play and we adults will deal with the serious stuff.

Dear Mr. Williams,

Please note that "FEBRUARY" has two "R"s, and they are both pronounced.  You should know this and provide a good example to the many that do not (which includes many of your fellow newscasters).  Maybe there's a story here?
Hi Brian,
Enjoyed your show last night...as always.
Just wanted you & some of the other folks on this thread to know...the people I talk and interact with are very supportive of President Obama...both personally and as to his policies.
Thank you.
While I am a reader of the Daily Nightly, I don't have ready access to a television and therefore do not watch your program - and I can say that I've never been more grateful for that, since the asteroid segment sounds, frankly, scary. I'm glad it missed us, don't get me wrong; I'm just sorry I know how close we came. Ignorance, in this case, was bliss.
WASHINGTON – British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has told Congress that Sen. Edward M. Kennedy has been awarded honorary knighthood.

“Mary Jo regrets she was unable to attend the ceremony today,
due to  circumstances beyond her control.”

Where can I go on your site to see the video clip of Carmen Wong Ulrich 's report on the new mortgage program for refinancing responsible borrowers which aired last evening 3/4/09?
