When it comes to getting his ambitious $3.5 trillion budget passed through Congress, President Obama is hoping for better success than his hometown basketball team, the Chicago Bulls, had on the court last evening. The president spent his Friday night out, witnessing the Bulls get beaten by the Washington Wizards. Our White House correspondent John Yang will be on the broadcast tonight to tell us about how the president is preparing for battle with powerful lobbyists and special interest groups. We'll also bring in CNBC's Scott Wapner to address the growing economic crisis.
David Gregory, the moderator of "Meet the Press," will join us with details of his exclusive interview with Defense Secretary Robert Gates. It's Gates' first public comments since President Obama announced his plans to remove American combat troops by the end of August, 2010, and the rest by the end of 2011.
After a series of tornados in Alabama today (thankfully, no serious injuries reported at last check), we'll speak to meteorologist Carl Parker at The Weather Channel about a potentially significant weather system sweeping into the East coast.
Also tonight, we’ll have another installment of our series, "Seeking Solutions." I'll introduce you to a unique court program that's helping homeowners fight foreclosure by bringing them face-to-face with lenders and the Philadelphia judge who came up with the idea in an effort "to right this ship."
Finally, a travel warning tonight for Spring Breakers making plans to head south of the border. We'll show you what some colleges and universities are doing to get students to reconsider their trips.
I'm filling in for Lester, who's off tonight. Hope you'll join us.
