Marijuana: A growing business

The new administration is about to enter its first full working week, and as is often the case, the Sunday morning TV interview circuit offered a glimpse of what the week may hold. Key Democrats and Republicans spent their mornings making the rounds, framing the upcoming debate over the economic stimulus. It's potentially shaping up to be President Obama's first showdown with Congress. NBC’s John Yang will lay out the battle lines for us tonight.

While Washington searches for consensus on a way out of this mess, CNBC's Steve Liesman will join me to discuss the current state of the economy, as well as the week ahead on Wall Street.

On the weekend before his impeachment trial, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is defending himself in an exclusive interview with NBC News. My colleague Amy Robach sat down with the lawmaker yesterday, and she’ll join us tonight with some insights from the conversation.

We'll look at a specific kind of danger on America's football fields that has killed more young players than you might imagine, and has led to criminal charges being filed against a high school coach.

Plus, we have a fascinating look at a “growing” business in Northern California: Marijuana.

I hope you will join us tonight for NBC Nightly News.

Dear Lester,

Upon review, I see that the puppy nicked you with his nail, rather than bit you with his teeth.  Either way, you should still get your tetanus updated.  The perils of broadcasting!

Have a good Sunday evening!

Lots of love to Lisa, Jackie, Stephanie, Celine, Claudia, Anna, and Matt.  XOXO
Good Evening Mr.Holt, Another fine broadcast this evening. First of all the report by Mr.Yang concerning President Obama working on his economic recovery package showed how it would be difficult fight to get it passed. It is vital to make sure the money is not wastefully spent because the economy needs help now. Things that are useful to helping the economy grow like creating jobs should be part of the package. I hope there is some progress made soon.

The report by Stephanie Gosk from London certainly exhibit this is a global crisis with so many stores out of business. So many homes repossesed it is just as hard hit. It was difficult to realize it would reach to this level, but it is shown in countries all over the world.

Hearing about the winter storm headed to the East made me cold just learning about it. More snow and ice is not what the Northeast needs more of right now. I hope it passes quickly.

The "Making A Difference" segment by Chris Jansing from Bolivia showed how women receiving small loans to start businesses have transformed their lives. Between the classes, day care and health care these women seem to be thriving at creating and maintaining their small businesses which is very inspirational. Hearing that 99% repay the loans is definitely promising news. I hope all the women continue to thrive.
Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Holt. Peace to You and to All!

Lots of Love to Laurel,Jackie,Stephanie,Claudia,Celine,Anna,Lori and Matt!
Be Well Always!
Stay Extra Safe and Well Richard!
XOXO

I had to comment on the story about the
coach in Louisville where I live.  It is a
heartbreaking story.  I feel the coach
is responsible for the boy's death and my
husband does not. I empathize with the parents.

I liked Amy's interview with Rod Blagojevich
who, in my mind, is innocent until proven
guilty.  That said, I hope he continues
his fight.  One never knows what he or she
will be accused of next. These are strange
times.
I thought you might have an interest in my daily letter to our new President. Within the letter I make reference to your financial reporter Jane Chatesky. Not sure if I spelled her name right. Anyway I hope you enjoy it Maybe you can pass it on to Jane. Here is the link to the blog post.

i think that your broad cast last night was completely one sided on the growing of medical marijuana in my opinion cali is ahead of the curve and legilization is happening and it is just a matter of time people reilizing it isnt a drug the goverment is just trying to make it seem that way for some reason un known there has never been a death as a result of marijuana but alcohal is legal and it kills thousands every year... you hypocratic people need to get your heads on straight cause your gov. has brainwashed you in to buying into there lies. it helps people... get over the teachings of a generation who lied to try and scare people it has been prooven threw hundreds of studies that there is no harn in lighting up... so i recomend you try it and see how it can help you...
Why no follow up on the marijuana storyas promised?
Did corperate kill it?
If I may....I just caught the end of a segment tonight about elder care in (?)North or South Carolina.  Could you be so kind as to forward me either the video or script of the content??  I thank you deeply in advance, Charlotte Santa.
I think they should legalize Marijuana and tax the hell out of it and put all the revenues from the "pot tax" into social security.  Social security would NEVER have to worry about money again and the second benefit would be to take the money away from the cartels pockets and put it all in social security
Hey Lester,  Loved the 420 segment on tonites news - the photos were awesome, you gotta love those Californians for legalizing it~ I wanna move there...it brought back memories of college, those were the daze~LOL!
If you look at all of the reports, you will find absolutely no reason that marijuana should be illegal, just regulated. Save our country NOW, educate yourself now then help legalize.
I will never vote for someone who does not support legalization.

Legalize! Tax! No oppression!
great info thank you you are awsome.
would like to see more videos
