Good Evening Mr.Gregory, Nice to see you this evening. You did a fine job broadcasting on Thanksgiving evening and doing the Today Show on Friday and Saturday plus Nightly News this evening. Excellent Job! The terror attacks in Mumbai were absolutely horrible and it is good they are finally over. Too many innocent lives were lost and I hope it never happens again. The footage on the broadcasts and accounts of people are just terrible. I hope for the day when there are no more terror groups in existence. This is definitely a tense situation between India and Pakistan. I heard President Bush's remarks today after he arrived at the White House he expressed sorrow for the Americans who lost their lives and for the people of India. Very tragic.

                   Re: David Gregory's Interview of Terror Expert on Mumbai Attacks

     Your interview this evening with the so-called "terror expert" on who was responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks, was just the latest example of how the media spreads unsubstantiated rumors during crises.   It's clear to viewers that's it's too early to identify who, besides the killed and captured attackers, were behind the attacks.  To suggest otherwise is rank speculation.  And to build speculation upon speculation is not to report news but to arbitrarily accuse.  Your viewers must know this.  Yet, you failed to challenge assertions of the terror expert that clearly lacked any factual basis.   What was accomplished was exploitation of the terror attacks. It was not news reporting.  A more useful endeavor would have been to ask the expert if he knew how Indian intelligence officials specifically, and intelligence officials generally, conducted terror investigations to identify people behind attacks of this type.  This might have resulted in conveying useful news as opposed to spreading needless alarms.  After the infamous role played by the media in the lead up to the Iraq war and in some of the misleading coverage of the recent Russia-Georgia war, viewers need more responsible and thoughtful contributions from the media.  In particular, viewers need reporters who, when interviewing, don't allow interviewees to go unchallenged when they make unsubstantiated or  loose allegations.

Good Evening Mr.Gregory, Great broadcast this evening. I liked seeing the logo of Nightly News on the skating rink at the end of the broadcast! That was neat! First of all the report concerning the attacks in Mumbai showed some awful pictures of the destruction inside the Taj Hotel. It will be uttertly terrible to sift through the remains of the battled rooms and hallways. Hearing from Mr.Cressey it is likely many more were involved besides just the ten gunmen identified because as he said it is much broader with careful planning. It will be a diplomatic challenge for the United States for the current administration as well as the future administration.
The report by Mr.Yang told of how the National Security Team to be unveiled by President-Elect Obama on Monday has this crisis at the top of their list. Many very experienced people are to be nominated which is a good thing in this toubled time.
The report by Mr.Taibbi showed how consumers are carefully cutting back this holiday season on how much they spend at the stores. Many deep discounts are being done at all major department stores in order to increase sales. It will be interesting next year how many stores will still be in business, but hopefully they will turn somewhat of a profit. Time will tell in January.
The "Making A Difference" segment by Mr.Mullen was really nice. The idea of the woman who founded "Village Harvest" is wonderful and getting so many people involved is great. Seeing all the fruit being picked off the trees by volunteers who are really enjoying themselves is so inspirational. All the fruit being sent to the food banks is helping so many people. It is amazing how many pounds of fruit was collected and in a single weekend. I hope the idea spreads to more States.

David Gregory on the Nightly News tonight (Sat. Nov. 29) referred to Barack Obama as "President Obama" and the reporter that followed this statement also referred to him as President Obama. The news media made sure he was elected and just can't wait to have him take office. Please give President Bush some respect.    

Oh, David, sorry I missed you!  You are one of my NBC favorites!    Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.

Ladies:  A great show on MTP this morning with Laura Bush discussing Afghanistan and the need to help the women and children there.  A real tear jerker.  I am totally convinced Laura Bush has done SO much without all the fanfare and PR.  She is a quiet trooper hoping to advance women and children.

Also, a great interview by Tom of Ted Turner on MTP.  Definately an interesting character with a view and vision.   A few takeaways.   His dad committed suicide because his life goals were too low.   Set high goals in life and always have something you are working on therefore you will not have to take you own life.   Interesting thought?    Ted will never retire because many men expire 24 months after their retirement.  Not enough to do in retirement.

David - Will NBC News be reporting on the NY Times article regarding the various conflicts of interest and Pentagon cooperation of your military analyst, Barry McCaffrey?  The issues raised in the Times are very serious and further call into question the integrity of your news organization, especially given the lack of reporting or response to the scandal that erupted when the Penatgon's military analyst program was first reported.  I have respected your reporting in the past and hope that you will demand that this matter be looked into and an accounting made to your viewers.

You could try addressing the <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/30/washington/30general.html">New York Times story</a> that adds to the body of evidence that GE/NBC are routinely engaging in <a href="http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/archives/2008/11/war_machine.php">peddling disinformation to your listeners</a>.

Yes, even though there are setbacks, Laura Bush keeps working on behalf of women in Afghanistan. Her daughters are also caring women who are interested in women around the world. It's not surprising that Mrs. Bush and her husband will be working on these causes after they leave the White House.
