Tonight will be a first for Nightly News: for the first time ever on the broadcast, TWO former Nightly News interns will appear on the same evening. Correspondent Trish Regan (our CNBC business specialist) and correspondent Jeff Rossen are both former interns in this newsroom -- who you might say grew up to make something of themselves. Again, like all things we "promise" on the broadcast, breaking news could break up our plan...and all elements are changeable up to and while we're on the air ... but that's the plan, at least.

We hope you can join us.

I've watched Trish since she started I don't know Jeff. I'm glad both are doing well and I wish them the best.

No more news reporting on the blog for me. I learned people just don't want to hear the truth. Time will come when the hold truth comes out I'm just glad I paid attention so the shock wont be that bad.

Obmaa has picked some smart bright people on this Cabinet some are young also. I guess he is bringing change to the White House. I google the background on the new people, very impressive. Some of the Media think we should keep the people we have running the White House because they have done and are continuing to do a great job. I guess the other 98 per cent of Americans don't feel the same way.

see you same time same place at 6:30 pm
all of this talk about pumping money into the economy to stimulate it is the wrong answer to fix the problem. the problem is that if people don;t have jobs or the security of a job, they will not spend money. Job security is key. With 1 in 10 jobs tied to the auto industry, in essence, you have 10 % of the population worried about the economey and therefore are not spending money which is holding back growth. Pumping money into the economy will not solve the problem. Our unemployment is higher that the record shows. In the early '80s, they changed the way unemployment is viewed. If you run out of benifits, are on extended benefits or have minimal income but still are able to collect a partial benefit, all of those do not count in the figure. Thank you.
Mr. Williams,
I tuned in this evening as always and learned
something new which was very meaningful to
me.  You referred to President Bush's time
as the "Midnight Hour", which I had never
heard before and thanks so much for the
information.

So you're from New Jersey?

Sincerely
Phyllis Kunz

Brian, you did a story tonight about Russia becoming the next breadbasket of the world. Why not do a follow-up story detailing how much easier it is to be a farmer in Russia versus in the United States. I doubt that they have the same conditions to deal with that the American farmer has: minimum wage mandates, workers comp, Social Security payments, Medicare payments, toilets in the fields, worker protection standards, severe restrictions on what chemicals can be used, even though the same chemicals banned in this country are widely used in other countries shipping food to us, etc. As a farmer in Florida I even get to pay personal property taxes each year on all of my farm equipment that I've purchased over the last 25 years. Bet they don't do that in Russia. I'm not saying all of those things are bad, but when trying to compete with someone who doesn't pay any of them, it may be free trade, but it's certainly not fair trade. The American farmer will be an extinct species in the not-too-distant future due to our government's policies and the agencies regulating what we do. Then the specter of countries like Russia using food as a weapon will make the oil crisis look like a picnic.
Good Evening Mr.Williams, A fine broadcast this evening. It is nice to see that TWO former Nightly News interns are now correspondents and both appeared tonight. Trish Regan and Jeff Rossen both did a great job on their reports. Much to keep Trish Regan busy with all the financial news. Keep up the great work!
Now on to the broadcast. First of all the economic news and Trish Regan's report which seemed to show how the Federal Reserve is making more efforts to help stimulate the economy by helping financial institutions lend to consumers. It is just staggering and amazing the amount of money discussed to bailout this economy. It is hard to imagine. I agree with you Mr.Williams when you stated to the effect of when will there be a final bailout and that will be it. As Mr.Liesman spoke about in his report that a series of programs will have to be done. There will certainly be a number of programs in the works for this crisis. Time will tell and I hope there is some positive news.
On another note the "In Depth' report by Mr.Maceda concerning Russia and the fertile land for crops of sunflowers, corn and wheat was interesting, but the Russian government may not allow all that food to reach people. Looking at the abundant crops growing and the state of the art equipment used to tend the soil it does appear this is a huge help in aiding the food crisis. Hopefully, this abundance of crops will be used for feeding the hungry instead of a resource for weapons and policies. Many people are in need and if any country can help it is good news.

On a health note the report by Dr.Nancy Snyderman stating there is a decline in certain types is cancers is wonderful news. Early detection is key regarding breast cancer for expample and talking about frequently is extremely helpful. Getting the word out is vitally important in saving lives.
Finally, the report by Mr.Rossen concerning people talking about money is something many families didn't discuss around the dinner table. But these tough financial times have everyone wanting to speak openly and it does help because everyone is affected by this economic crisis.
Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Williams. Peace to You and to All!

Lots of Love to Laurel,Jackie,Stephanie,Claudia,Celine,Anna and Matt!
Be Well Always!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Stay Safe and Well Richard! Hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Do you realize that the announcer voice of NBC News is the Gordon Gekko of Wall Street "Greed is good" fame?

Twist the knife, thanks.
Hi, I watch NBC nightly news all the time. On tonites news you mentioned an IQ test. I tried it,but at the end of the test you have to answer too many survey questions about different brand name items before they give you what your IQ is. Not sure what my IQ is. didn't finish the survey, because of the survey.
Brian,
Well, a couple of things:  The rules of this race are that things are done by the laws of the land. 1)I do not have any money to come to NY and 2)  What would be the reason for you coming to Albany(me). It would have to be personal. I am OK that money is not an issue personally.

*I see too much contractions(signs) going on within the news-which is to me, too much movement going on in the world.

*I was dozing  today and my mind was jumbled up with stuff that was not making any sense, until I woke up good...and that is not good.

At my church there is a young pastor and his wife who want their first child. Well, she went into early labor.  Our church prayed for them on 2-3 occasions and it stabalized her.  She is on bed rest.

1)This is your decision.
2)If you want to talk, we can: I could meet you, and meet you somewhere.
3)We could try earnest prayer to stabalize the world.  My rest is listening to you & I see what U say. I seem to think so anyway.

Know- I want to see you.

I immediately went to "Life After Internships" because I realy wanted to see if there was one.  My daughter had an NBC internship, but once graduated from their University, how do they get back in the door?  Very demoralizing not to have even a contact.  and is there no Page program anymore?  What gives?
Sorry, not said well
Again, like all things we 'promise' on the broadcast, breaking news could break up our plan...and all elements are changable, up to and while were on air...but thats the plan.

You already decided.  It just doesn't seem real to me, but then again It didn't seem real when you first talked to me.  What about Saturday.  Lets do it again.  Make the unreal-real-  i know you won't stay mad...hope...I am with you all the way. Your decision is the right way.

Good Evening,

I am a Over The Road trucker. Have been waiting on the new rule that I have to work with. They are FMCSA'S RULES ALSO KNOWN AS CFR.49 not LAW.

I think the report on the Midnight hour was wrong in
saying that Prsident Bush can change the rules on how many hours Trucker's Can or Cannot Drive. The Presidend can not do that.

As these rules come from the FMCSA not from the
WHITE HOUSE.

To me this was very bad reporting as the HATE GROUPS  would be in court to stop it ever becoming a rule for us truck drivers.

Thank You

Gene Parker OTR
