...cha...cha...cha...changes....

By Les Kretman, NBC News White House producer

As a cold angry rain and gusty winds blew across the Washington, D.C. area the past couple of days you could feel it in your bones. Change is coming not only in the meteorological sense --- but in the political sense as well.

The President last night celebrating the 150th birthday of Teddy Roosevelt reflecting on his own eight years in office after a performance by a Roosevelt impersonator in the East Room: "And, of course, it's good to see President Roosevelt. (Laughter.) Often times people ask me, do you ever see any of the ghosts of your predecessors here in the White House? I said, "No, I quit drinking."

Today the President visited the Republican National Committee headquarters to thank workers there. He's made similar visits the past couple of weeks to the State Department, the Pentagon and the National Security Agency.

The schedule now extremely skinny. A head of state here...an ambassador there. Outside the White House grounds, Pennsylvania Avenue is beginning to resemble a small construction site. Chain link fences are surrounding areas where bleachers and a Presidential reviewing stand will go for the inauguration.

And the second meeting today today of the Transitional Coordinating Committee being headed by two former chiefs of staff Bush's Andy Card, Clinton's Mac McClarty along with Jenna Dorn, of the National Academy of Public Administration; Norm Ornstein at the American Enterprise Institute and Max Stier, with the Partnership for Public Service. Their job aimed at making the change in the Oval Office as smooth as possible.

All what is happening is a given the last few months of a president's term...the leaves will soon leave the trees bare. Winter is around the corner.....changes.

Please forgive me if this is off topic, but I don't know where to post a general comment to Brian Williams, so please redirect if possible:
Dear Brian,
With respect to the possibility that Congress may look to pass another "Stimulus Package," they must make sure to account for the fact that many people's circumstances have changed dramatically since the last one. Therefore, the criteria for qualification needs careful reconsideration. Using the same criteria (the 2007 Federal and or State Tax Returns)is obsolete and would be unfair to those who have either become unemployed or fallen on other hard economic times.
Thank you.
Rick Cohen.
Rick you have made a good point I would suggest you email your Rep or even the Obama camp. Your right things have changed with most people since the last hand out.

Now to change. When you live as long as I have you live through change. I remember when phones didn't have buttons and the TV was black/white. I have seen while visiting the South men hanging from trees, white/black faucets, we couldn't eat at the counter and even we had to seat up stairs at the movies. Now I have a computer, cell phone and have no idea how to use the IPOD/MP3 player. But I working hard as I can now download and even paste copy. But what I'm seeing is history. Kennedy gave me my foundation for being equal American and responsible for my country. Dr. King taught me what was ahead even if I didn't see it yet. Bill Clinton became like the brother I never had and yes my girlfriend Hillary made me smile, laugh and pay attention to the move for woman/children and all Americans.  Obama/Biden are now allowing me to see what Dr. King ment in his I have a Dream speech. Who knew I'd be so lucky. Along the way I've met friends from all over the US and the World on this little thing called computer. My Dad always told me like the seasons of the year so is life God will always let things grow back bigger, stronger and even wiser.  I guess that's why Life is called a Gift.
I think NBC thinks Obama's paid PSA may give it at least one Top 20 Prime Time show, but I doubt it.

Bammer at lease NBC Executives were smart enough to get 1 million dollars for Obama's Ad as was CBS and Fox. Now the loser is ABC who turned down Obama but later asked for the deal. The prime time show that ABC has on that night has very few viewers.  I wondered what ABC would have done if McCain had the Ad money but Obama didn't.  Oh well McCain spent 150,000 dollars for the Palin Family clothes it might have brought some time for a quick Ad.
I am watching the segment about GM sales being off 45%. Am I going to com,mit to buying a car when Obama H is going to redistribute my "wealth" and tax my ass some more? I think not and that includes Toyota and china crap. Will the Lib media EVER wakeup? Already cancelled my newspaper. Looks like network TV is next.
