I'm writing this from the Nightly News studio, basically to say: I won't have time to post in any significant way.

I just concluded an extended interview with Senator Hillary Clinton. Now it's back to the newsroom to write for the broadcast. Then I get yanked upstairs to tape Conan for tonight -- always harrowing, as it takes me away from the newsroom at the height of the writing for 35 minutes, then dumps me (even though they always are so kind to make me the first guest to accomodate my schedule) back in the newsroom at 6:15 ET for a 6:30pm ET first live feed of the broadcast.

So...that's where I'll be. We hope, as always, you can join us at the appointed hour.

Dear Brian,

I look forward to your interview with Senator Clinton....

I will have to tape your appearance on Conan tonight.  I missed my nap today, so I won't be able to stay up that late!

Jackie:  Are you sure you want to fly back East on Jet Blue?  They might make you sit in the bathroom the whole way out!  Did you see that story?!

All:  Anyone interested in The New York Times's military analyst story should check out Rachel Sklar's write-up on Huffington Post.  Here's the link:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/13/the-emnytems-selective-mi_n_101015.html

Also, I always recommend Howard Kurtz's program, "Reliable Sources," on CNN.  It's on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.  It is a fair look at how the media has covered the past week's top stories.  I watch it every week.  (Hey, Lisa, sometimes Richard Engel is a guest!  Woo hoo!)

Lots of love to my friends Lisa, Jackie, and Stephanie.
Hello, also, to Celine, Claudia, Anna, and Matt.

XOXO
It's the perfect opportunity to go unscripted!

Let the executives of GE & NBC have Pepto Bismal cocktails tonight.  lol

Hope you asked how Chelsea Clinton feels about having Secret Service protection again.  As I understand it, she was thrilled once she was no longer required to have their services.
Did O'Brien ask you how many fingers he was holding up, and call you Winston? Was just wondering if Conan was a Greenwald fan. :-)
Hi Brian -

Looking forward to the Hillary interview.

I'm not commenting any more, but I wish more politicians had a real respect for the political process  -- particularly the electoral process.
Hi Brain,

Just in case you get this in time, for tomight's broadcast you may want to include Tips for saving funds on food, by stocking up on fresh produce during the warmer months. See the link for "Stocking up on Foods' at www.themuffinlady.com. Scroll down for tips on freezing fresh produce this summer--- for the winter months yet to come.
( I get NY local news here, so I heard the anchorwoman discuss subjects for tonight's show)

ENJOY!

Randi
Good Evening Mr.Williams, I must say you are busy, busy as usual today! Going in all directions! Looking forward to the interview with Hillary Clinton this evening after her win in West Virginia yesterday. Now it's on to the last few States for primaries. I will try to see you on Conan, but I may have to see the video on NBC.com. Anyway, I will look forward to it as I always enjoy seeing you on these shows. See you on the broadcast this evening!
Peace to you and to all!

Lots of Love to Laurel,Jackie and Stephanie!
Hi to all the great ladies of this blog!
Be well always!
Mr. Williams,

Glad to see you will be appearing on Conan tonight. The banter is always very good. Seeing you on shows like his and others is why I started watching you/nightly news in the first place. I also wanted to say that I do think the whole military/pentagon/media issue should have been discussed on nightly news, but I'm not going to grill anyone about it. I think the more constructive thing to do is to research it for myself, which I PLAN on doing, though I am prone to forget things, so I may just remember to check it out a few weeks from now when people on here are still posting about it. I'm still hoping your schedule might free up in the near future to do some "vining", or just so you can take a break from work and catch a race or two, whichever you prefer.

Laurel: I did happen to see my friend Jenny's brother on the today show. It was nice to see her charity get some much deserved attention.

I haven't posted in a while due to certain educational/academic pressures, so I thought I would just check in. Hello to all the regulars.
Brian, What about the racist votes that Barack Obama has received?!  You can't tell me that with Barack Obama receiving over 95% the vote from people, who consider themselves to be black, that there isn't any racism in that. Any politician who receives that kind of vote from any segment of the population has issues. Dictators receive those percentages.  Those votes are not based on anything but racism.  When are you going to ask Barack Obama about his thoughts on the  racists in the black community who vote for him?
YOU DID IT! A Yankee pronounced Louisville correctly!
My dog and I cheered. Well..I did.
Brian, you are hands down the best anchorman but you said "uhh" almost a thousand times when you interviewed Hillary Clinton on the video "Hillary Clinton looks ahead to June". It's quite annoying.
Hi Brian,

Thanks for the head-up on Conan, I will have to DVR it:-)  Loved your suit tonite, you looked especially handsome! Hillary looked great too!  I'm so torn, I don't know what to do...I can't wait for the election~ who will it be?  Happy Birthday to Matt, I noticed your 20 instead of 19~ hope you had a good one.  Back to the news, the story on China is just too depressing, I can't even imagine the devastation.  Whole towns gone!  It makes my daily troubles seem so insignificant.
Good Evening Mr.Williams, Regarding the broadcast. I enjoyed the interview with Hillary Clinton which shows she is going to finish all the primaries in all the States. I think in June there will be a clear nominee and the party can unify for the upcoming convention later in August. It has been an extremely close race and that can be exciting for some and frustrating to others depending on your viewpoint. Each party needs to be unified to be able to convey a message to the voters. Time will tell as the process continues. On another note the report by Ian Williams concerning the earthquake in China was simply awful to see. The video of when the quake hit was scary to watch and one realizes how powerful mother nature can be. It is so very sad to see houses collapsed and towns wiped out due to the  quake and the number of lives lost is staggering and almost unimaginable, but it did occur. I really hope they find more survivors under the rubble. It is painstaking work, but it is priceless if it saves more lives. I certainly hope Myanmar does not get another hit from a cyclone, this is a terrible situation and their government is being so cruel not allowing aid to the people so desperate for help. I hope supplies arrive very, very soon for those people because they must get it in order to survive.
The report by Anne Thompson about the polar bears being threatened with extinction simply shows how all these emissions and other factors in the environment are causing their habitat to lessen. The ice is melting away so fast the bears can't find enough food to feed themselves and the cubs. The one polar bear out on the ice alone looked so lonely. Probably wondering where to find any source of food. They are nice animals and I hope there is a way to save them.  Finally, the report by Pete Williams on retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor before Congress discussing alzheimers and the fact her husband suffers from the disease was moving. This disease does take a toll on a family and it can run in families if others suffered from the disease. I know a family where the mother suffers from alzheimers and it has been a tremendous strain on the family. I hope more research can be done to prevent this terrible disease from happening. It is good she went before Congress and discussed the issue. Thank you for the broadcast Mr.Williams. It was "Williams" night on Nightly News this evening! Brian Williams anchoring,  an Ian Williams report, and a report by Pete Williams. All excellent work. Again, thank you for the broadcast! Peace to you and to all!

Lots of Love to Laurel,Jackie and Stephanie!
Hi to alll the great ladies of this blog!
Be Well Always!
Brian I can't wait to see my girlfriend Hillary this evening. She is one woman for the History books as she proves quitters just aren't in the cards for strong woman. Yes she's a driver because it's hard dealing in a man's world, so just chill out you'll do fine. I did hear about John Edwards endorsing Obama. I keep in mind that the Civil Rights Bill allowed me to have a vote not be dictated who to vote for. All this stuff about voting for a candidate because of race or sex is sick. I'm Black and proud of it and I'm voting/supporting Hillary Clinton because she is the best candidate, no one will tell me who to vote for.

Laural: I laughed with the ticket on Jetblue as they know I hate planes. Now if I have any problem look for me to be on TV because I will demand my rights. (smile) If they ever think about putting me in a bathroom for a flight, I will own Jetblue.

Brian looks like another bail out of a corrupt Bush staffer. Solicitor General Paul Clement announced today that he's resigning effective June 2. Yes Brian the investigators are finding out the criminal acts and the help Clement did in the Attorney firings. Look for more lawyers appointed by Bush to be resigning as the corruption comes to light. Looks like the American Bar Association will be hiring as they will have alot of Bush lawyers to disbar.

Brian, NBC Executives and Staff
The news is already out and all over the web that the Media has been reporting the Pentagon propaganda.  Brian gave us information on how his job works which helped many understand. Now it's time to report who gave you the report because if not it sounds like it's yours. I'm no reporter but if I'm told the White House said something I know good chance it's a lie, but when a trusted reporter just says this is the report I would trust the information more.  This corruption by the White House is deep real deep and spread over 7 years. Alot of reporters have made it crystal clear their in the back pocket of the White House.  I was pleased to see Tim Russert and Andrea Mitchell got the memo to leave their personal campaign for the Republican Party out of the reports.  I have great respect for Republicans who didn't true corrupt with the others. I listen to former DOJ lawyer David Iglesias and former Senator Lincoln Chafee who both spoke with pride of the way their Republican Party was before Bush. Yes the Republican Party had strong values and were a Party who once made this country Great. Yes Nixon was a crook but others showed the World how Great the US was. Our country has gone down hill since 2000. Blame Clinton if you want but check your saving account when did it go to zero?
So deal with the current issues that the Pentagon reported and move on to clear your reputation with your viewers. Brian you have thousands of more viewers since the public saw Charlie Gibson sold out on the ABC Debate.

Best to my friends Lisa, Laural, Stephanie, Claudia, Anne and Matt

See you at our special time 6:30pm
Hi Randi:

Thanks for your website and for the reminder about freezing fruits and veggies.   I purchased 1/4 of a watermelon and it cost me $2.50 at the store.  Everything is high.

I was watching the morning news and they reported that food prices rose to the highest prices in 18 years in the month of March.    All the good reason to cut back a bit and really, really be selective at the store.  We have been shopping more and stocking up on the sales.

Matt, you are almost at the end of the semester.  Stay focused and let everyone of know how you are doing.   I am sure you will be doing great!  I am cheering for you!

Bests to all!
Brian,
I've enjoyed seeing you on other programming besides Nightly but I have to ask if doing a shot on Conan's show is getting in the way of your real work?
Brian, keep up the good work on covering the Chinese earthquake.  As a resident of Sichuan from 2002-2007, I have many friends and family impacted by the quake, and I get hourly reports from them.
For the record, "CHENGDU" is pronounced "chung-doo" and "SICHUAN" is pronounced "sitch-wan".  You have been mis-pronouncing both words, I'm afraid
Ah yes, finals week! Good Luck Matt. OK, so I know we nag, but honestly, all the studies show that if  you study until about 11:00 or so, then get a good night's sleep you'll do better that pulling an all nighter.

It seems all the aid in the world isn't enough to cover both these disasters. I am amazed at the Chinese governments response. I seem remember an earthquake a number of years ago with little or no reports out of China, Maybe they are more serious than we typically give them credit for about changing their image in the rest of the world.

I will never again complain about seeing the second feed of the broadcast, It was neat for me to get to see Edwards' endorsement, since he was my original choice.

Laural, thank you so much for the link, the most balanced thing I"ve read yet on the issue.

I'm old, I leave you young 'uns to watch Conan,

Good Night to the ladies, and Matt.
Just a quick question. Is Sen. Obama a Kenya citizen? If so, will you please bring it upon air so that it doesn't surprise anyone in the general election. It seems to be a big secret...
When are you planning to expose the military analysts scandal in a major piece and thereby help restore our faith in the press.
Hi Brian,
I just finished watching you on Conan.....just like the old days when I would watch you on MSNBC at midnight. There I was in the kitchen, loading the dishwasher, cleaning up the mess of the day so I wouldn't fall asleep.....My husband will wonder what possessed me to get it all tidied up tonight. There isn't much to watch now that Countdown has been moved to 1am CST.It was great to be able to watch you again. You were very funny and you managed to get it all done. The newscast didn't suffer either.
Have a great week!
Dear Brian,

First let me tell you that I have tremendous faith in your integrity as a journalist and as a news anchor.  Having said that let me refer to your interview with Sen. Clinton. I watched important parts of the interview on Chris Mathew's show and other shows on other cable networks.  What struck me about the interview was that Mrs. Clinton ended her interview claiming that she would be the nominee for democratic party.  Given the present senario, it kind of made me nervous and even sent a chill through my spine.  I wonder if Mrs. Clinton has any sinister motive that is at works before the nomination process is over.  In my opinion, she would do anything to have the nomination.  It is that greed the that might make her commit something that often obssession drives people to do.  Worried, observer!
Hi Brian!  The Military Analysist story is REALLY heating up.  Have you told your viewers that you knew of the conflicts of interest and the propaganda that was being promoted by you and your network?  No?  Why not?  Is it not a story that a 'managing editor' of one of the leading news organizations in the world broke the law and helped launch and illegal invasion and occupation?  We out here in reality think it is and we're not going to let up until you appear before congress under oath to confess your involvement.  Don't worry, Brian, they won't muss your hair or fix your nose.  They will just ask what we are asking: what did you know and when did you know it?  I know that we are asking a lot of you to show some integrity but maybe once you try it, you'll see how good it feels.  Love to the family, Brian.  I'll bet you can't wait to see the looks on their faces once they learn that daddy help kill millions of Iraqis and Americans for money.  Ta for now.
Alway love your interviews, keep up the great work!!!
I second David's inquiry regarding MSNBC's involvement in the DoD (White House?) military analyst program. This is a critically important issue for those who rely on the media to provide unbiased coverage.

It seems incredible that neither you or MSNBC have responded to the clear issues presented by this story. Absent any meaningful response, viewers can only deduce that MSNBC was complicit in the fraud perpetrated on the public.

Please show your viewers that you have some journalistic integrity and provide a truthful, honest account on this issue.
Can't wait to see the interview with Hillary.  However, somebody needs to start being honest regarding the military analyst story.  You are currently being skewered, not because you were bamboozled by the Pentagon, but by your refusal to admit it.
The illegal war propaganda program must be stopped before we enter another false war.  Thanks for your time.
Why does MSNBC have the following screaming headline:

"Bush invokes Nazis in apparent hit on Obama"

This is a load of garbage. Bush did nothing of the sort. Instead, this is yet another example of how far NBC news has sunk. The headline is great fodder for your partisan hatemaster Olbermann, but please, sop thinking that this is legitimate journalism,

Shame on Brian Williams for standing by as the NBC News brand continues to sink into the partisan gutter.
Brian, I think it's great that you can take time to go and tape a comedy show but cannot bother to dedicate even a minute of your broadcasts over the past 25 days to the mushrooming story regarding the propaganda program run through the retired military analysts. Your lack of journalistic integrity truly boggles the mind.

Bravo, Brian.  You're so great.  I'm glad you're here keeping watch over the important things.
I hope my note meets your criteria.  I have lost all respect for John Edwards.  His endorsement of Obama came at the most opportune time to really slap Hillar in the face.  If he had any respect for her, he would have waited.  And I think he had this planned all along, depending on the W.Va. results.
I think we should start a write-in campaign for the general election.
Mr. Williams:  When will you speak about the Pentagon-led operation that placed "independent" military analysts on all the major networks -- including yours -- to promote the Iraq war?

I hope you will redeem your credibility as a journalist, and break ranks and actually report on this story.

On a humorous note, there is now a clock tabulating the duration of the TV media's denial campaign:

http://home.comcast.net/~d.leedle/news/
Brian,
I just have to commend you on your insightful interviews with Obama.
Your questions are what everyone wants to know about Obama.
You are so unbiased. You are a disgrace.
BRIAN - WITHOUT INTENT, I CAUGHT A PORTION OF YOUR NIGHTLY NEWS BROADCAST. THE T.V. WAS ON NBC WHEN I TURNED IT ON; YOU WERE THERE SO I THOUGHT I'D SEE WHAT YOU WERE UP TO.  I QUICKLY FOUND OUT.  NOT ONLY ARE YOU DISGUSTINGLY BIASED IN YOUR NEWS REPORTING BUT YOU ARE EXCEEDINGLY DISHONEST.  YOU KNOW VERY WELL THAT JOHN MCCAIN DID NOT SAY OUR TROOPS WOULD BE IN IRAQ FOR A HUNDRED YEARS  YET, THAT IS WHAT YOU REPORTED.  YOU ARE SUCH A LIAR!.  I QUICKLY REALIZED WHY I DON'T WATCH YOUR NEWS PROGRAM.  HOPEFULLY NBC WILL GO BELLY UP AND YOU WITH IT.MARLENE
Sen. Mccain layed out his specific plans if elected in Fall'08 (to continue Bush's third term).  Two of his specifics were outragous to say the least.  One was about Education. He said that Young folks are volunteering for Military to get a higher education. This means that education in America has to come with the highest price one can pay, meaning that in order to get a higher education one has to be ready to die sooner or later by going Iraq or Afganistan.  It is a dire shame that Sen. Mccain is running for President of America after Bush tarnished any good image America ever had in the eyes of the world.  If Mccain's age is not a factor in the general election, his brain ought to be a serious issue.  His second proposal on public schools is as ludicrous as his running for Preseident.  He said public schools will feel competetion against Private schools and thus will improve their standards.  What makes him think that any good teacher will teach in a public school when he/she would get way better salary and treatment in a Private school?  Sen. Mccain has passed the age of intelectual thinking; first, because, his brain got damaged when he was a POW in Vietnam, second he is seriously challenged with intellectual thinking. Hasn't Mr. Bush embarrassed America enough around the world through his stupidity? Or Americans need more of it!
Brian, you have the best hair on the TV! Light and fluffy, just like your "reporting". All the best!
"Where have all the young men gone, gone to graveyard everyone, when will they ever learn, when will they ever learn"--  famous song by Pete Seeger.  I might have not quoted the song totally correctly.  However, this is the song that comes to my mind every time I see Mr. Mccain rattling around my unfortunate TV screen.  You know what else I get reminded of.. "Walking in the footsteps..." the song that I hear in my spin class.  That reminds me of Mr. Mccain's faithfully carrying the torch of Bush.
Talk about Piracy!  Mr. Mccain has Pirated all the slogans of Obama to sell them as his own to the White working class Americans.  Mr. Mccain will beat the Chinese in their own game of Piracy.  Obama should have reserved his "copy rights" in the wake of such copycats.
I wish I could have seen the newscast of Senator Clinton, but I was in my Mother's hospital room.
When people talk about "Moral High Ground", I wonder why Obama's campaign called my Mother in NM, and thanked her for her pledge of $50.00?  Afterall, they told her that she had pledged that $50 April 24th, and it was followed up with another phone call and letter.
That would have been hard as she had been in Florida until April 26. She has been undergoing cancer treatment at Moffitt Research in Tampa since August07.
During her brief remission, she just happened to be in NM that first week of MAY. The campaign has not replied to my phone calls. So Brian, ask a hard question next time:Senator Obama, why does your campaign solicit in such a manner when the person was not even in the state?"
Made more tragic by the fact she is in the midst of a battle with cancer.
Dear Brian,
It was appalling to hear Mr. Huckabee making such irresponsible joke about Obama in the NRA Convention. We all know how vulnerable Obama is being a Charismatic, noble black candidate!  I had a lot of respect for Mr. Huckabee and in fact I wanted Huckabee to win the republican Primary.  Here he goes and makes such reckless remark knowing what significance it may have!  There are a lot of folks that don't want Obama to be the President.  There are a whole lot of women who would die to see Mrs. Clinton as democratic nominee.  Giving such awful idea to emotionally charged people is utterly irresponsible and shameful for Huckabee.  I think Mr. Huckabee ought to come on National TV and apologize to win his place back as a decent person.
   .
I just saw the report from the police chief in PHILADELPHIA.  And was so disappointed . As a black American I was upset . All I could think  about was Wilson Goode .......Here we go again. Blacks put Mayor Nutter in office and once again a black Mayor has disrespected black Americans. Mayor Goode let a community burn down and 11 black America die! Now Mayor Nutter lets officers beat kick and disrespect American citizen and a slap of the hand is given out. If Police are hire and paid to protect the public . Then how do you justify not fireing all police officers present. Mayor Nutter  and the Chief Of police fire 4 officers . That tell me that a crime was admitted. The job of a police officers is to pervent and stop crime . Each officers there didn't do there job.... All should be fire and jailed! If not Mayor Nutter................. you are no better then the evil police officers that beat three citizen. And to mention the murdered officers ( Are you saying that the officers where still upset,,,,,,,,,,,So they beat the citizens???)_ . If so....that disrespects all Americans that have been beaten and murder by police officers! Sean Bell family should be able to shoot any cop they see . And just say WE ARE STILL MAD! Military American personel are in prison for disrespecting Iraqi prisoner.Unarmed Blacks in this country can be murder and beaten and before there body is in the ground. The Police officers are back to work!  I remember when Mayor Nutter was running and he kept saying that he wanted the cops . To be able to stop and fisked . I knew then this is a man that is not connected to the people that voted for him.. Any time you give more power to police . Black Americans pay with there lifes!  Mayor Nutter should no better!!!
Dear Brian,

I did view the entire interview w/ Pres. Bush, and it did appear a bit deceptive on nbc's part. Brian why not just play the part in question... it appeared as if you were hiding something, the truth perhaps... So much for balanced. I "WAS" a loyal viewer that now questions your integrity.
I briefly wanted to comment on Dr. Nancy Snyderman’s parents move to Princeton. I was saddened by the thought that her father feels he’s had his “day in the sun”. He couldn’t be more from the truth. There is a wonderful University there in Princeton that I know would welcome some wonderful lectures from such an educated man. And I’ll bet some great students who be honored to listen to someone who has, in his time, been a part of great medical advances. Change to a new town could bring a new lease on life….live it to the end Dr. Snyderman!
I am 67 years old. I have waited all my life to vote for a woman for this nation's highest office.  Come November, if Mrs. Clinton's name is not printed on the ballot I shall write it in
