Army Spec. Alex Jimenez of Lawrence, Mass., was promoted to sergeant on Jan. 7, but he wasn't around to accept his promotion. Jimenez, 25, is one of four Americans listed as missing and presumed captured in Iraq. Jimenez and Pvt. Byron Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Mich., have not been seen since they were ambushed south of Baghdad on May 12, 2007.

"Nothing in my life has ever been like this," Jimenez's father told the Boston Globe. "I stay strong because I think Alex is not dead, but sometimes all I can do is cry."

Besides Jimenez and Fouty, two other U.S. soldiers are missing and believed held captive in Iraq. Spc. Ahmed Qusai al-Taei, 41, an Iraqi-American and Army translator, was kidnapped Oct. 23, 2006, in Baghdad while visiting his Iraqi wife, and Staff Sgt. Keith Maupin, 23, of Batavia, Ohio, disappeared April 9, 2004, after his fuel convoy was ambushed. Maupin was later seen on videotape, surrounded by masked men holding automatic rifles.

In past wars, by comparison, 78,000 Americans are still missing from World War II; 8,100 from the Korean War; 1,763 from the Vietnam War, and 125 from the Cold War.

"These are all guys in reconnaissance flights [during the Cold War] who were downed by the Soviets," the Pentagon's Larry Greer said.

I see the primaries this way, the Democratic candidates; Hillary , More of the same, corporate America donates huge sums of money to her, therefore they own her, although I'm not at all sure that she is not a most willing  perticipant in their dirty deeds, and then we all know if she gets ellected it will be President Bill Clinton all over again. I don't think he is an asset. Next we have Obahma, I'm not too sure about him, but I'm pretty sure he is more of the same, same old government we have had only difference is , his tax raising will come as a result of more inflated government programs, Making America a huge "Nanny Nation". We will all pay dearly. (Democrat candidates "Big Taxraisers and Big Spenders, Creating a Total Nanny Nation." The Republicans will continue taxing us into oblivion, by continuing to fund and create new conflicts aound the world, putting us in more danger than we could ever immmagine. "I DON'T FEEL MORE SAFE WITH THEIR MENTALITY." They operate on Scare and Fleese, and Control us completely,(for our own good)tactics. This is the biggest bunch of B.S. I have ever heard. The I.R.S. takes over half of our hard earned wages, and then the government makes us come to government programs as beggers to be able to pay our rent ,utilities, food and healthcare. I hope Americans wake up before we totally loose our country to these "Powers That Be ", that are now running almost every aspect of our lives. We need Ron Paul to be our President, and lead us in the right direction. I'm voting for him , because I totaly believe in the man ,his honesty, his love of this country and all it's people. "He's not the usual politician, he is in fact," A True American."
These brave soldiers that the US and Law makers forgot. My daughter is in the Military so I get the news from her and other soldiers. I notice hope the media doesn't report about the soldiers being killed now. As the economy is in recession Americans are more interested in themselves.  McCain will follow with more wars and less jobs. The White House policy is now allowing torture as the troops were lied to by both the President and Generals. These soldiers didn't have to die but because of the lies by the White House and the Generals doing as their told by the White House and not looking out for the soldiers.
Now I was told by a soldier about the Iraq's who were found headless yet not a word in the Media, only everything is going good.  Even General Petraus lied so much just looking at him makes me sick for our troops.  The only support our troops have is the families of Military men/women and some Vets that's it no one else cares. God has so many good men/women in heaven and we have to live with out mistake of trusting the President and Vice President of the United State.
After reading this article and reading the other comments, Please tell who would want to join any of the army force, and be treated like this.........
Dear Brian,
Inquiring minds would like to know who's bright idea it was to hire Michael Douglas as the Nightly News intro?  I think his voice comes across as weak and wimpy.  New is NOT always better . . . "if it ain't broke . . . don't try to fix it!"
