Brian, everytime you talk about Hurricane Katrina and our struggle to rebuild the New Orleans area, I get a tear in my eye--
Words can never express my appreciation to you and NBC for allowing Hurricane Katrina to stay at the forefront.  This was the worst natural disaster and I don't feel that anyone can understand what has happened here.
This great city will not be rebuilt overnight-- it will take years. There are people here and not here who don't have the money or resources to even try to put their lives back together--There are also those who have used ALL savings and loan opportunities available and still are not back in their homes. There are good stories here also and I wish more of those could be told. Not everyone in New Orleans is looking for a hand out--Again thank you and please continue to follow "our" city's progress on this long road back--We love you!!

  Today was a good day.  America has not forgotten us today.  We look back at the blessings, not the curses today.  We move forward.  Much is left to do (Heck, there are boats still left on the streets!) but today we thank the people of America that opened up their homes and hearts to our lost people.  We thank the wonderful volunteers that let us know that, even when the government treated us as not quite Americans, we are one with these angels that appeared on our doorsteps.  Today we thank the artists that value our culture and go on to tell our story in words, music and paintings.  Today there is hope in the devastated Gulf South. Thank you for helping make this a good day.
