WILL 'INFRASTRUCTURE' MAKE ITS WAY INTO POLITICAL DEBATES

(Brian Williams closing note on Thursday, August 2 broadcast)

The sprawling Twin Cities metropolitan area has a lot of work to do. The human component will be the toughest: they are still learning about their own staggering loss.

The physical loss can be re-built, and there’s a very good chance of a fast repair... the Republican National Convention is coming to the Twin Cities just a year from now.

Aside from any of that, it will be MOST interesting to see if the  topic of infrastructure -- the safety of our roads and bridges and public structures finds its way into the public debate in this next election.

It’s not a sexy topic.  But it is all about our personal safety.  We’ve seen here for ourselves today – it’s all about life and death.

Good Evening Mr.Williams, I agree with you it is not a "sexy" topic, but it is one to be addressed in our nation. Obviously there is a real problem with our bridges. The candidates need to address this issue because it is as you said about life and death. Sometimes the candidates overlook certain issues until something tragic happens and that has to stop. Time will tell in this long election process, but I hope they do.
The destruction of 80% of an American city and the death of over a 1000 Americans by infrastructure failure didn' get America to act.  Why would the collapse of one bridge make a difference?  The government and the country is too fractured and impotent to do anything.  Now tell me again why I pay taxes?
News item.

Edwards supporters aren't giving up, they're actually going to buck the system and continue to vote their candidate in upcoming primaries, who is now being called "The People's President."

You may want to take a look at Mr. Edwards website under the blog area.  Here's just one sample of several out there.

Its so amazing.  People across the country are saying "We're voting for our President!  The People's President!  "

You'll find all over those blogs, Edwards supporters aren't being beaten down and giving up, rather they're joining and standing up together!

Watch the upcoming primaries.

Visit the blog area of www.JohnEdwards.com and add your note. If interested in participating locally, please note that along with a way to be contacted.

This should be interesting.. You could make history - by changing the protocol of this campaign.
