Good Evening Mr.Williams, a fine Friday broadcast this evening as always.
First of all the report by Mr.Pete Williams about the FBI stopping a potential terrorist attack on the US Capital. It was frightening to learn this 29yr old man was willing to be a suicide bomber by putting on a vest filled with explosives and blow himself up in the Capital visitors center where many tourists would be or the Senate Offfice building. It was good the authorities arrested him before he was able to carry out any attack after so much suveillance they had done on his movements.
The report by Mr. Neely from Syria showed the constant horrific attacks being done by the Syrian Army which has cost so many lives. All the cities especially the city of Homs being reduced to ruins as it is it turned into a war zone of a civil war. The rebel army trying to fight off the army, but it seems the army is too powerful. Twelve months of battle in the streets and is doesn't appear to be ending. One wonders if anything can be done by the International Community to try and stop this terrible humanitarian crisis.
The report by Mr.Cantore told of how the mild weather may be turning more wintry this weekend in many States with heavy wet snow predicted in the Mid-Section and Northeast. Sounds like Washington, D.C. will have some wintry weather during the weekend. Everyone stay warm and safe.
The "Making A Difference" segment by Anne Thompson about children in one school taking ballroom dancing showed how dancing classes improved their performance in the classroom. Teaching politeness being one of the aspects of the class really helped change some of these children's attitude. Teaching life lessons in the dance classes and making even better students. Nice piece.
So very tragic and sad the loss of New York Times reporter Anthony Shadid. He was certainly a brilliant reporter. He will be greatly missed.
Richard's tribute to Anthony Shadid was truly wonderful.
Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Williams. Have a wonderful weekend. Peace to You and to All!
Be Well Everyone!
